He was left-handed but I suppose he learned to play a right-handed upright bowing/picking it with his left and "fretting" (or whatever it is called on a fretless instrument) with his right.

Been doing a lot of flipping lately. Here's the latest acquisition; a Lakland Skyline 55-60 JO in translucent white with a custom wound neck pickup. I threw a set of flats on it (GHS Precision Flats 45-126) and am loving the grit and growl I'm getting out of it. I've taken to the white/tort/rosewood look as well. There's just something about it that is drawing me in right now.

My shorty squad! Got the Gretsch 2202 Friday to go along with the Squier Jaguar. Figuring out that I am more comfortable playing the short scale stuff. Now to decide which one I like better & whether to keep my Squier 20th Anniversary Jazz.
Slightly neck heavy but, not really bad at all.

I play both short and long, and suggest you keep your 34 and play it once in a while to keep the muscle memory. You never know when you might be asked to play one.

I have to pack it away until Christmas though... gift from the missus. She saw me lookin' and offered to buy it as my anniversary/Christmas/Birthday present (they are all less than a month apart). After I confirmed that this was not a trick, of course I agreed!
I have to confess that I've never owned a NEW bass before, always preferring used ones that I could play with and knew were "broken in"...
I've played these several times in shops around town and always liked them better than everything else in that price range. Plus it looks like a pretty nice platform for modding, I haven't owned a P/J in DECADES.

Nice Jag. Our anniversary, my b'day and Christmas are also <two mos apart
but with the count at 11 and my looking at a vintage Jazz, she's probably more
concerned that It may end up as an unwelcomed guest under the covers. Besides
she already gave at the office when she bought my '88 EB Stingray. I'm blessed.

I think that only some of the Clubs who have good moderators issue and keep track of #'s.
I had to stop myself because I wanted so badly to say "Wow, what a coincidence, your # is 4003, congratulations" ! I just couldn't do it.

I've been thinning out the collection big time lately and trying to take it back down to the basics - a J-based instrument and a P/J instrument. Well, 2 P/J styles in this case. Obtained both of these this week. I like them both - a LOT!
