It’s one of the made in China but still under the Fender name. It looks like anything called “modern player” falls in this category.
The pickups are kind of a double Jazz humbucker.
I’m not sure if there is even an option to replace them. I have never owned a Jazz or even a P/J so I’m not sure how they compare. But on their own I’m happy with them.
The bass itself is very well built, since I got it used, I can’t say how it arrived from the factory, but I’m not going to spend a lot of time setting it up. If there are any issues I’ll be sure to blame Gibson.
I’m not sure when it was made, the above video has a different control layout.
The color is a “transparent black” and almost has an olive green hue if the light hits it right.
Methinks it’s alder.
I’m not going to change the pickguard just because it’s a goofy pickup, and it’s not worth paying a custom price.
I already have it set up, and I couldn’t resist putting flats on it... had some chrome flats...
One of my 6 basses has roundwounds.... for now.
Edit: it looks to be from around 2011, and it is an alder body.

Ray is here, feels like a lost son returning. The fatted calf has been fedged.
It came with a white pickguard, replaced it with a black one. Looks more distinguished in my eyes.
Don't care that it looks like a sub now. It just fits in better with the burst over black.
And put some sunbeams on, liked the slinky's, but had to try the DR. Besides, sunburst, sunbeams, every day is a sunny day with my ray!
They are a tad less muddy in the deep down I noticed.
Next week we'll have band practice and I can let loose the beast of thunder and punch.
Those rays really are the K1 of basses. They punch like someone who is acting out his Oedipus complex.

Nice piece. The Ray34 is a great sounding and playing instrument.
Thumbs up on the black guard. Black/ burst is a classic '70's look.

Indeed. Although for some reason headless guitars have never really blown my skirt up. I can't get past the aesthetics.
Sold a moollon this month and got 2 new basses. The P in the middle and the elite 5 string. Got more than everything I could possibly need:

Well, on the first post, I hit post instead of upload file much to my dismay. So, I tried edit the post and add two different pictures. The first picture uploaded fine, so did the second picture.
When I tried to place that picture in the post, well you see what I did. Somehow placed a duplicate picture and posted it before I could figure out what happened.
Tried to correct the whole mess got confused/frustrated and couldn't figure it out, lost interest in it and ended it all with the third post so ya'll wouldn't think I was bein a thread hog.

It is a US made Coral Deluxe Bass, produced from '67-'69. Long scale, 22 frets, 2 steel bars through the poplar neck (rosewood fb & hs - no tr), aluminum nut, thin (1-1/4") poplar body. Dano everything else. Was the Danelectro company that MCA bought in '67, and then went out of biz in '69. A Dano in it's sonic footprint - and one of the coolest basses ever made looks-wise.
