Think it's going to have to be 'what this old thing? I've had it for years' method....

...all cleaned up and restrung...dam the young man who owned it...it hadn’t been polished in years, and the strings that were on it were WAY beyond boiling...and I’m a boiling strings believer...

It still needs a truss rod nudge.

I’m as happy as Larry! :D

^^^Man! I’m falling for the Thunderchief...the simplicity of it, from headstock to tail pin, is just perfect!

They're pretty amazing. Exactly what you need, nothing you don't, sounds big, loud, and sweet, the fretless with Tru-Bass Rotos on it can get very acceptable almost-upright tones. Next time I find a good deal on a fretted pre-Fender Thunderchief (I gave 700 for my fretless two years ago), I'm going to buy it and set it up with Slinky Cobalt flatwounds for front porch/campfire non-oldtime jamming. They really are loud enough to play with clawhammer banjo, fiddle, fingerstyle guitar, and Mandolin, as well as just a couple guitars if the guitar players in question don't play super loud, and they sound GREAT.

I really do,the Neck-Body balance can be irritating sometimes but it is one of the best sounding fretless basses i have ever heard.
