...all cleaned up and restrung...dam the young man who owned it...it hadn’t been polished in years, and the strings that were on it were WAY beyond boiling...and I’m a boiling strings believer...
It still needs a truss rod nudge.

They're pretty amazing. Exactly what you need, nothing you don't, sounds big, loud, and sweet, the fretless with Tru-Bass Rotos on it can get very acceptable almost-upright tones. Next time I find a good deal on a fretted pre-Fender Thunderchief (I gave 700 for my fretless two years ago), I'm going to buy it and set it up with Slinky Cobalt flatwounds for front porch/campfire non-oldtime jamming. They really are loud enough to play with clawhammer banjo, fiddle, fingerstyle guitar, and Mandolin, as well as just a couple guitars if the guitar players in question don't play super loud, and they sound GREAT.^^^Man! I’m falling for the Thunderchief...the simplicity of it, from headstock to tail pin, is just perfect!

I really do,the Neck-Body balance can be irritating sometimes but it is one of the best sounding fretless basses i have ever heard.
