Sterling is ash, but SBMM is basswood... so I decided not to built Frankenstein, but to sell SBMM... Sterling feels much greater with its unfinished thick neck, sounds a bit greater with is ash body, preamp is more flexible... The only think I want to do with it is to change the black pickguard to white!
But it is hard to find- there is a great choice for Stingray everywhere, but None for Sterling...

I've used two of them, both Fender-style maple/maple, one 34"scale the other 32"scale, both fretted. ATC they are good - no complaints. Maple/maple is a pretty safe bet - I don't have experience with their other options.

'60s Dano's have similar quirks - I have a Coral Deluxe Bass with 2 pu's and 2 stacked knobs. (V/T V/T) Unlike the Fender early '60s J set-up, the top knob is tone, the bottom ring volume - reverse of the Fender.

I used to have one twenty years ago. This things are a lot of fun in my book. The bridge popped on my old one so I traded up to a 3L, till that bridge popped an I traded up to my first Precision, American made.
My previous EB's were Korean, this one is Chinese. Ain't wrote on the bass (thank goodness), the SJ tells me that.
Also included a nice padded gig bag

Thanks! I acquired both the bass and amp separately over the last 2 weeks. It’s a kind of a cool snapshot of a different time. Bass is c.1965-66 and the amp is dated 1967. To me, they are a perfect match. Nothing loud or expensive, just a cool and fun bedroom rig.
And I finally ordered a set of strings for the bass! Coming soon.
The poor lighting in my house meant I had to take both outside to photograph them. Two Fender Aerodynes, one in gunmetal blue and one in black. That's orange reflective tape on the black one, not a chipped fretboard.
My current favourite. Nice low action and not too heavy (unlike my 35” scale 7 string). Slightly neck heavy though. Being lazy I used a stock photo.
Got home from a long week at work - and my bro's got me an early gift to kick off the birthday weekend. It plays so good - was not expecting it, super stoked to get a jam in on it.

Oi bois. This here be my only bass at the moment. It is a Schecter Diamond P-Custom. Currently it's equipped with some "custom" Nordstrands that make it sound quite thicc and rounded. Also, Kalium strings gauged for drop tuning. I primarily play in Drop A and Drop Bb because the Tesseract/Meshuggah love is real.
She's a killer workhorse; though I am but a fledgling bassist myself. I'm currently considering some other 5 string to accompany this one, perhaps a multi-scale, as the string spacing on this one isn't as manageable for my butcher hands (finger and slapp playing), but something around 18mm spacing would be cool. This one will stay, it just seems primarily focused towards playing with a pick.

lol - I mean, it's not like it doesn't matter - I love offset guitars in general, but I really love the head stock on this one (been wanting a painted head stock for a while).

Yep - candy apple red, absolutely adore it.
It is our second Vintage Modified Squier (we have Vintage Modified Jaguar guitar in Olympic White) - we're in the early stages of working on our next album. I think this bass and my Squier VI are going to do most of the heavy lifting on it for the bass parts.
