I have a Conrad ss hollow-body and I strung it with LaBella flats, short scale as it has a 2x2 hs. My Del Rey came w/flats so I don't know what they are. Is your tone knob wired backwards? (full clock-wise/10 = more bass) Apparently it's what they did then on basses and guitars. I don't know about 'needing' extra light strings - the neck does have a tr. I think medium gauge would be fine.

Yeah so is mine...it's just at the verge of too high. I'm kind of hesitant to adjust the neck too much though because that big fat piano cable of a B string needs to sing

Thanks! It Pelham blue - Pat Wilkins matched the Epi Custom Shop (fully painted) PB neck - the sides & back are trans tobacco brown.

Both great instruments. What's the mini toggle on the SBMM?

The blue one is incredible. The red and the brown too. But particularly the blue.

Been eyeing one of those blue Sterlings. I love the sound and look of StingRays, but I like a slimmer neck.

ETA: can you put a Sterling neck on a StingRay body? Or are they not as interchangeable as Fender necks?

The XD is really slick. I especially like the headstock design. I thought it was purely aesthetic, then I saw the drop tuning setup à la kubicki! Very cool

Thanks! Yes, it's medium/32" scale and is going to incorporate a capo ala Kubicki, but mine will be more automatic to engage/disengage. Can't tell you much more right now as it's in R&D right now.

If you wanted it like most basses/guitars - it's an easy fix; just flip the two outside tang wires on the tone pot. I left mine as is for novelty sake.

Thanks! Yes, all but the brown Teisco on the left. The black (actually dark black/brown) one has an actual Teisco Del Rey mahogany body - the rest are basswood and the blue one is roasted ash. Necks are 34" scale Epi's and the XD is an Eden 32" scale.

Just the same as at EBMM. 3 way toggle to control the pickup. The pick is Nordstrand 4.2...
