My pic is whatever the Status neck ends up on - that's my pic. lol
But that yellow Sting Ray looks good.
That status neck is going on a special project this weekend. If will definitely be part of a video.
Jazz bass has been getting some love recently after fixing the nut, plays like butter now!

I like the way they look too ... had one for a year or so before I decided it wasn't for me and couldn't afford having it as wall art.
It's funny that you say that. I had a jetglo 4003 for a year or so about 15 years ago and could never get comfortable with it so I sold it. However, the 4003SW hanging on my wall is a completely different beast and is one of my absolute favorites. It's funny how two instruments can be so similar yet so different. The SW (named "Wally" for Walnut, not being a wall queen ;P) is strung up with TI flats and just sits in the mix so well.

Mine was an '85 4003 - the short-lived model w/2 piece pg, reversed tr access and 2 screws through the bridge-plate (nice "fix" John Hall...
) - because it was curling up with the advent of high-tension strings. The "Wally" is an example of later adherence to correct design vs "retro/nostalgia bs = $" I'm sure any Ric w/o that god-awful bridge would be worth owning.
Here's my latest acquisition, a custom build that was completed at the end of last month. Big kudos to Keith Roscoe and the crew.

My Ric Rant.
One of my buddies had always wanted one and 3 years ago found a great deal on a 74 4001 Mapleglo that needed some TLC. He dropped it off to me and said to make it right. I was excited because I always wanted to get my hands on a Ric and experience the Renown Instrument.
Both pickups were bad/open and the pots were in sad shape. My buddy wasn't keen on the idea of paying the $$ to have them rewound to spec and having to wait. So, I ordered a new modern set from Ric along with all new electronics and some hardware that was missing.
I put it all back together, did some research and set it up. Having such high expectations, it was almost a complete let down for me. I was still happy just to have the opportunity to experience it but, it's just not for me. Awkward, single coils, very heavy, didn't like the feel of the neck and it was very awkward. For as old as it was, it was in great shape physically, fret-board was flat, frets were level and didn't show hardly any wear whatsoever.
My buddy seemed really happy with it but, of course he was fulfilling a dream and had his hard earned $$ in it.
He called about 3 months later wanting me to fix the bridge(Treble) pickup in it after he tried to remove the cover from it after I tried to get him to not even install it. I even tried to talk him into getting the cool aftermarket insert that goes in it and has a thumb-rest built into it. After he played it for a few months he realized that the cover got in his way, like a lot of other people who remove it.
Again I was happy to see it dropped off to me again and it was a quick fix as he pulled a wire loose. Excited to give it a second chance, the excitement wore off quickly and just had to be happy that my buddy was happy.
