I highly recommend it! I really enjoy the tone with the stock pickups. I still have yet to play it enough to give an honest opinion, but I have enjoyed it so far.

Marshall Perry has four Martin Keith singlecuts, but I fell in love with his Dakota Red one with P and MM pickups hidden under soapbar covers. His has a rosewood board, matching headstock, and much fancier preamp. Mine has a reverse P instead of standard P in the neck position, and while its finish looks very CAR in that photo, it's actually pearl red (a subtle distinction, I guess).Anyway, I'm grateful to Marshall for sharing his experience with Martin Keith basses, and for not minding that I went with a similar P/MM build!

i knew he had more than one, but the red one always stood out the most to me. must be those two pickups slammed right up against eachother. i remember there was something else special about the pickups but forgot the details. i like the idea of combining a reverse p & MM. i bet that thing pumps out the low-end like no other.
Anyway, I'm grateful to Marshall for sharing his experience with Martin Keith basses, and for not minding that I went with a similar P/MM build!

Had to chime in on this one - yes indeed, that pickup combination is really something else.
Two of the punchiest classics (P-Bass and Stingray) rolled together makes for a very powerful instrument.
I might even turn this into a standard model - I've made two like this now, and they are both really satisfying.
Dean Rhapsody 8 (Bought it off another TB'er), and a Frankenstein P-bass.
Squier p/j with the neck swapped out for a vintage mod jazz. The neck is heaven and I love the color. Hoping to swap out the pickups and bridge some time down the line!
These are my girls . . . in order of acquisition . . .
1974 Gibson EB-0 - my Uncle bought it brand new.
1997 Fender American Standard Jazz V - only bass I bought brand new. My #2
1985 Fender Elite II P-Bass - This really is my #1 bass.
1984 Ibanez Roadster fretless P/J bass - Neck needs a refinish. GREAT bass.
1980's Carvin koa wood bass - Original P-style pickup was removed and two Alembic pickups installed. Purchased her off ebay as part of the auctions for 9/11 sale.
19?? Monterey acoustic bass - bought used in 2005 in Australia. Good instrument. EQ-545 electronics were in it.
1985 Ibanez X-Destroyer DB700 - bought it to be played in my cover band. Pickups are getting microphonic and I'm considering replacing instead of redipping them.
2010? Epiphone Thunderbird - I think it's the pro version but I'm not sure. The t-bird is a thumper!
It's a meager and abused group but, I like them.... I'd probably buy a proper P-Bass next. The elite II doesn't quite have the same meat as a standard P, but a boost of the bottom end really makes it up.

Here's my Schnooky-Wookums... a heavily-modded (for which I've already heard a lion's share of grief over, thank you... 
) Hamer Cruisebass from 1983. Got it from a TB'er, in fact. It's recently got the finishing touch, the funky cartoon-like paint job, by the singer in our band ("The Same"). She's an up-and-comer in the art world, and used to sing in the soprano section of an Anglican/Episcopal church choir with my own daughters. She's got talent like you read about, and a voice like Heaven's Cannons. Anyway, enough lauding of praise that would embarrass her if she could read this! Lol... bad of me. Here's the bass, and one of it 'in action' with yours truly:

So no knobs because you don't use them? (adjust from amp) Also, I didn't know the Schaller 3D bridge was made in black - is it anodized or coated/painted?

My three toys. 1995 MIJ Squire Jazz bass , 2014 Musicman Bongo HH, 1974 Fender P-bass( bought her new). I do think that I like the sound and amount of sheer sound from the Bongo, but I like to play the J-bass , it plays so easy, is kinda between the P-bass and the Bongo.. The precision is smooth and sexy for blues, etc.
