How do the Lace's compare to other more conventional PuPs?

@Fat Freddy is convinced that I trapped the soul of some wild beast in that bass -- it growls for days. How do the Lace's compare to other more conventional PuPs?
I need to build a gold bass now.

No, it's just another one of my inexpensive Basses I've modded.
It's a Carlo Robelli that, from my understanding, was a Sam Ash exclusive I picked up locally from FB MarketPlace for $75. I made the original MM pickup disappear but, added almost a pound of lead in the rout for balance , routed for the Vintage SD Active EQ J near the sweet spot, replaced Solorails with a vintage/Fender style bridge, new tuners and covered the body/headstock front face with Black Carbon Fiber Vinyl Wrap.
It has a very good 34" scale neck with hard frets that plays great. It's a bit wide at the nut @ 1.725.
I'm actually amazed at how good it sounds and plays.
The little red button is a kill switch to fill a hole.

That's really elegant in a minimalist way. Nice build. Reminds me of an old Guild but much better.OK I'll try (not mine, actually I built it for @Fat Freddy

Didn't find that to be true, for the brief time I had it (I shipped it soon after completion; didn't want to keep him waitingThat thing is sick! I have an OG Lace Helix. Question about the pickups. I've found that with both volumes maxed, it almost seems out of phase and loses a lot of volume. Dial back on one pickup a little and it sounds fine. Any thoughts? I don't have much experience with the Lace stuff.
No probs at all with the pups.....or anything else for that matter....Didn't find that to be true, for the brief time I had it (I shipped it soon after completion; didn't want to keep him waiting). It sounds as if one of the pickups was wired backward. Maybe @Fat Freddy can chime in.
