Would love to know more about the first one. Especially since I'm currently formulating a plan for excessive pickup-ness myself...

Volume is far left
Next stack is Jazz / MM on bottom
Bass on top
Next stack is treble on top / mids on bottom
Chicken head is 6Z switch
Lone knob is Jazz pickup blend

I am not big on binding usually, but with all the black, it looks sharp!

Oh man, that Charvel pic brings back memories! Had a purple one back in the 80’s, same model as yours, that I had EMG pickups installed. Had a certain midrange grit and of course that cool looking headstock.

I bought that new in ‘86 and it was my main bass for decades. Aside from a Hipshot Xtender, it is still bone stock and yes, it has a very gritty growl. Love it!

Here's a little preview of my upcoming video! Doing a 3-way comparison/review of three budget-oriented active Jazz basses. We're going to look at my Sire V3, my Bacchus WL-434 ACT, and my Squier Contemporary HH Jazz. At this price point, it's like each manufacturer was handed a machete and was told to "cut something off". It's really interesting where the "cost savings" are with each instrument and how they vary between the three.

Swapping out the barts in my EHB1005 for a set of Aguilars, then going to compare to the original sound clips as well as the 1505. I found the barts to be the only real weakness of that bass.
