Same. Even this style at first I thought "nope"...but, Its just so insanely over the top and I have to imagine with this much effort put into the engineering that the ergonomics must be incredible also. Padalka has made some DCs as well and they are just amazing to look at... The fit and finish is incredible. The detail is profound, especially on the incredibly highly spec'd ones. definitely worth a perusal of his site

Arrow straight necks that came set up with super low action without buzz - I had to raise it a bit for my tastes. I think a lot of his customers come more from the metal side of things and tapping, etc is a concern but that's not the way I play. I was a pretty early customer for him outside of Russia - before he had wait lists, etc. The 4 string was to my specs. The 5 was one he built for the Holy Grail Guitar Show in Berlin. I play the 4 a lot more. The 5 sounds and plays great though the neck is a U profile and the C profile on the 4 is more comfortable/familiar to me.
Yeah, I believe he did the double cut first. Aesthetically I personally much prefer the single cut and it all just flows together as a design. The bass side horn on the double cut just looks out of scale to me.
No playability downside with the single cut - and they sound tight.
I hope to play one one day. Do you have any sound samples? or video???
I assume that a C profile neck of his will be one of the closest necks id get to that would be familiar to my Dingwalls

The multiscale I have from him is a 34-36" (I had a Dingwall Afterburner years ago and that was 34-37"). I imagine he could do either (nice with the 36" as it opens up a lot of off the shelf string options). As to the profile, I'm sure he could match any specifications provided.

Being full custom I think your right in that he could produce just about any requested spec. sooo tempting but id have to sell something to gather funds and im not ready to do that.

His prices have gone up quite a bit but still very good value. The challenge is getting on his list. The last few years he's only opened up for orders for a week for the following year and it usually fills within two or three days. He's also selective about what projects he'll take. That said, he was bang on schedule with everything in my experience. Total pro.
It was crazy when I ordered my first one. Full custom and less than many off the shelf Fenders or Musicmans, etc at that time (not even talking Custom Shop). But he has been discovered...
Mid 2000s I bought a bass for 300 bucks new from a company called Guerilla Guitars that was just starting, now they've done pretty well for themselves and I'd be looking at over a grand for another one. Unfortunately it was stolen, i loved that bass.
I wish I had discovered padalka sooner. Pricing is appropriate for the quality and detail hes putting out still. perhaps one day ill get on the list. Im just currently hoping dingwall gets a headless option available sooner then later.
I think ibanez just forced their hand in that one. I'm putting a tone capsule and some nords into my EHB for a "budget ding"
I was about to say, the EHB stock can get you close for way less and then you can finish it off to your own spec with the money saved (I know, spoken like a tinkerer!).
