The official "Show your basses" thread part 19!

Although I bought this a little while back, finally getting around to setting up for use. It got the factory bridge and strap pins back and a fresh set of Sadowsky blue label flats (40-100, and they are still a bit stiff for my tastes). 1974, B neck, dot matrix tort guard, mostly stock and unmolested except for some horrible relicing by previous owner, which isn’t noticeable from the stage. With the damage to the finish, I have been debating for a long time whether or not to do a refinish as I don’t think I’ll lose any value at this point. It’ll still be a while before I make that decision most likely.

Damn that's a very diverse collection
Squier to unlined Surine.
Yes, it’s my acquisitions over 45 years.

Some I just came across with no intention of buying a bass but you know, too nice to pass up.

I was going to sell a few but it seems they all have some very fond memories attached and I just can’t part with them.

Ok

Everyone knows I got my 71 P bass back - but I just got this.

I play at my church and one of the members make Cigar Box guitars. He just gave me the first Cigar Box bass he has ever made. I have to admit this plays nice and sounds really good. It is a 2 sting bass with E and A strings and with the Humbucking pickup does not sound bad at all. One Sunday we will both play these instruments.

Here is a pic. Forgot - it is a 30 " scale

You'll have to work to pop an octave on that one. Looks fun and with that mini mudbucker I'd bet it does sound good.

Hi

you can't always get or keep all the things you want so I recently sold my Squier "Silverado" JB (pic with fretless VM JB here: The official "Show your basses" thread part 19! - but I bought this Squier P-bass (from I think it is from 2008) that records and sound more even than the sold JB.

First and foremost I'm a guitar player trying to speak bass..... and sadly economy speaks louder than some frequencies but I got an even better bass and a complement to the fretless JB. Again thx from lurk mode for much valuable info on TB, appreciated.

Cheers, DoFuzz

Yeap - there are some fun arrangements to be made for sure. My friend is trying to keep them in the form they were originally made. He makes all the necks himself (does not use pre made necks). He has made many 3 string and one 6 string guitar and this was his first bass.

He made a 3 string for the other guitar player at church - so we are going to do some praise songs with the old blues vibe. We will have 2 Cigar box guitars and my bass and the drummer is going to go light on his kit. We'll see I let ya know how it goes.

How many Tele's do you have now - need to see a pic of them all one day.

Have a good day

I'm thinking 10 of my current 23 are Tele Style Basses.
I've been needing to get everything out for a new Family Portrait. The last one is over a year and a half old. I'll get a new one done soon.

What is the scale length on your cool Cigar Box Bass ?
**Enjoy**
