I played 30.5" Short Scale Basses almost exclusively from 90 till 2000 when I played and purchased an Extra Long Scale Peavey Cirrus 5. The 35" Low B String sounded so much better than my 30.5" Short Scale 5'er I had to change at that time. I sold my last Short Scale(a Kramer "The Duke" Bass) about a year ago.

jimmyb Snatched it up quickly when I posted it. I got two PM's, three minutes apart right after I posted it but, he was the 1st PM and we made an agreement.
The Kramer was the 1st and only Bass I sold on TB and it went so fast it made my head spin !

"The Duke" I recently sold is the 2nd Black one I've owned. The 1st one I had was the 2nd Short Scale Bass I owned and found it in a Music Store in Downtown Philly in 88. My 1st Short Scale was a Black Gibson Flying V that I found brand new/old stock in the basement of a little Music Store in Crystal City, Va.. The V is one Bass I really regret selling but, I had been on a long extended vacation in early 92 after I got out of my 10 year Tour in the U.S. Navy in 1990.
The 1st Duke Bass I converted into a 5'er in 89 by building a new body out of a slab of Oak, machined a Bridge and Nut out of Aluminum. That was my #1 for 11 years till I got the Peavey Cirrus.

My new main, and first 6 string bass, an Ibanez SR306EB in Weathered Black finish, 34" scale with a Naytoh body, 5 piece Maple/Walnut neck, and Jatoba fretboard with 24 medium frets, tuned to D standard, as in 3 half steps above regular 6 string bass B standard tuning, or 2 half steps bellow regular 4 string bass E standard tuning, and strung accordingly, which I have named "The Noodle Queen" :

Decided to get an octave pedal instead of super thick strings and opted for F# tuning.

Sold that Marcus Miller MIJ bass I got the other day at a handsome profit. Sold another bass and got this today. Fender Ultra precision. Love the maple board and the neck is so comfortable. Sam Ash matched the price that they had for the same model on eBay, so I had to pull the trigger.View attachment 4107942

Most recent picture of my lowly, but very much beloved, and quite battered Ibanez GSRM20 Mikro Bass, tuned in G standard tuning, as in 3 half steps above regular 4 string bass E standard tuning, and strung accordingly, with gauge .090 - .068 - .052 - 038 nickle roundwound steel core strings, mahogany body, maple neck, rosewood fretboard with 22 medium frets, and equipped with a DiMarzio Model P P pickup wired directly to the output jack socket, and with the J pickup disconnected and lowed considerably :
