Dang it Ed! You have such a beautiful collection.
My Fender Jazz Basses (the others feel left out).
Black: 1977 Jazz bought in the '80s with DiMarzio paf's and Bass Ass bridge. Added tort pick guard and J Retro pre amp. Strings are R Cocco. My main player for many years shouldn't have to explain much more here...
Butter Cream: Bought the 2018 MIM body with stock pups and bridge. Added mint pick guard and WD Music unlined fretless neck. Strings are R Cocco as well. Very nice player and sounds great as is.
Polar White: Bought the 2016 MIM body with Fender high mass bridge. Otherwise it was completely bare. Added the Greasy Groove USA flag pick guard, Squire Jazz neck, Rotosound 66 strings and EMG JVX Set...Yawn.
Tide Pool Blue: Bought the 2020 MIM body completely bare. Added a Warmoth roasted maple/ebony fretless neck, Bartolini pups, Audere 3 band pre amp and Hipshot Highmass bridge. Strings are DR Sunbeams. This was an attempt at a Jazz version of Tony Franklin's PJ. So far the best of the three builds.
The '77 Jazz is my gold standard, that said, the stock butter cream one sounds damn nice. As far as bright and in your face that would be the Tide Pool Blue one. At first it sounded real thin but once I dialed it in I'm very happy with the results. The Polar White one is a bit of a disappointment sound wise. This is my second try at EMG's, I loaded a PJX set in a PJ build and it's just blah. Never going there again.
I have an Aerodyne fretless build that just needs electronics. I'm thinking of Fralins, Nordstrand or good old Dimarzio's driven by J East again.

I’m going to finish it. Leaning tru oil or Danish oil. I made some lemon dye but I just don’t think I can put dye on it. It’s a solid 1 piece Maple body. So full tru oil finish. I also have the sealer and I’ll try a thinned out coat or 2. Or i can Danish oil, shellac and nitro from a can. Just don’t know which to choose

It's a beauty and will be amazing either way. A nitro finish will really make the grain pop

Osmo hardwax oil. It's insanely good

Custom built by Todd Nichols (guitarist for Toad The Wet Sprocket and builder at Nichols Custom Guitars) for Dean Dinning (bassist at Toad The Wet Sprocket) for the 2018 Tour. I bought the bass from Todd at the end of the tour.

Have you decided on what pickup you're going to install on your 8 String ? I looked through your postings but couldn't find anything where you mentioned it.

I was thinking it sure looked like a P-90/Soapbar rout. I didn't realize TV J. made them in Soapbar packages. Sweet.

You can reach out to a lot of the smaller pup makers and special order pickups in a different footprint (there are, of course some limitations, you aren't going to squeeze an MM into a single Jazz pup cover...)
Nordstrand charged me only +$10 to have a Big Blade Man (Typically a MM drop in) in a EMG 40 shape...
