I haven’t posted any pics of my 1970 Gibson EB3-L with slotted headstock yet so here we go. This one has been a lot of work bringing her back to life, but now an awesome blast from the past.
I just got back one of my older gigging Basses about a year ago. 2008 Epiphone Thunderbird. The band I was in back then needed a P bass sound so I traded her away, saw her advertised on the net and ran over and bought her back. An old friend.
Then one of my all time favorites is my 1981 Aria Pro II Thorsound. One of my most amazing Basses.
Last ,but not least , is my custom Wolfcaster. My tech and I built this one the way I wanted it to be for me to noodle on about 15 years ago. So much fun to hang with. Learned a lot doing the body work ,Have a profound respect for the people who build for a living now.
That is quite an interesting collection there!

Yes that road has led me down to all kinds of strange places !
Couple more and better pics. As she is now completely done. Added ramps. Although they're more for looks as they dit low. I like how they look. And they give a thumbrest with a wide range.
These pics clearly show how pretty that swamp-ash really is. And a whopper I made. I measured the distance from fretboard to body. But my board is thicker and I left a tad more neckwood. So my bridge sat to low and needed a shim. Hence the ramps to pull that one out of the odd looking corner.
Headstock. Drill went off making the holes. I only had a hand drill. So yeah. I love the shape. The little hook came off as there wasn't hardly any glue there. Titebond fixed that again. And I had to do the Warwick thing with the tuners. And another thing I'm kinda proud off the side dots.
I wanted to make them plastic. But didn't want to pay 7 euro shipping for a 60 cent item.
So I had to find an alternative. Then I spotted a cup of nails. We call them 'lost head'. The ones that or not the average flathead. Cut them off right after the head, which is just slightly thicker and tapped them into the holes with a dap of CA glue. Ground them flat with a Dremel and sanded the lot. I love them. No board dots. Never saw the point in those.
Wired her back into parallel, sounds better. Still thumpy. She has a great attack when striking a note a good hard thud. And the two band EQ makes for nice shaping. Just the amount I will need.
