I ordered a Nash MB bass I would call my '78 replica with a burst finish. So, what's the most rational thing to do while i wait for delivery? Of course, build a Mustang Bass to challenge the Nash, but on the cheap. Squier CV body, neck and tuners. The theme is "naked". My Lexan offset control plate sports the swept back Orange Drop cap, solid stack knob and jack. Bridge from the Fender Player Mustang with revealed ground wire. Nordstrand NM4 pickups without covers. Mahogany thumb rest. Sounds awesome and I guess it helps with the wait for the Nash. I like the look of pickguard screws all over the place.
The Grosh PJ Aerodyne clone set me instantly on GAS again. What’s the price point of these? How does it sound?
it is an unreal bass. Everything about it is perfect. Unfortunately for bass players I think he is just building guitars these days. When he was building basses his price point was about the same as Mike Lull.
This modded Tele worked really well. Warmoth roasted swamp ash body with yellow Colortone dye and poly finish. Allparts rosewood neck. Lollar single coil and Gretsch TV Jones bridge pickup. The humbucker really dominates on the 3 position switch. No volume control. Rock on.
