I kind of had a feeling that was a Marty Bell. He does an amazing job. Reminds me of some of my MusicMan sparkle finishes.
I finished my scrappy old "Packard bell" P Bass revival project. New top nut, fender roundwounds, intonation and action set up, copper tape shielded cavity complete (it is fun to apply! And i got carried away), new 500k pots (A500: tone and B500: vol), new 1/4" jack, heavier gauge wiring wired to the same diagram as a standard fender p bass of 2005 but with a 0.1uf capacitor. Also a respray of the scratchplate in green. I tried it out and theres no hum or crackling, and the tone knob has quite a wide range of effect compared to before (with a 0.047uf cap. New gold screws and knurled knobs).
This will certainly see me through until I can afford a better bass.

Well I have tried to get down to 2 bass in my later years - but can not get lower than 3. Is there a "Bass Owners Anonymous" that I can get help from. Since retirement and only playing at church - I figured 2 would be good. For sure I am keeping my 71 P bass (first bass ever), so now I have a fretted and a fretless jazz. The P only comes out on special things and the 2 jazzes play at church most of the time.

Actually - with my left hand arthritis at my thumb the Jazz neck feels better for me. But my P is my first bass ever owned, my Dad lent me the money. So I will keep her, I wanted one fretted and one fretless - so 2 jazz basses.
