The official "Show your basses" thread part 19!

70's garbage parts Jazz Fretless

The Dano gets no real practice, rehearsal or stage time. Thinking about letting it go.

The fretless is coming along. Will eventually gig it as I'm getting better on it.

Primarily using the Fender 5'er s. They're ez tone machines as the venues always present the challenge.

As light as the WD-800 is, I still preferred my LH1000 for overall use.
Should'a kept it.

Some of those are pretty cool. What are the bottom five?

Hi Barticus

Thanks, the bottom five are my own custom designs - "RockHill" basses.

I built the bodies in my local wood shop, along with a couple of local craftsmen, but the necks and assembly were by Keith Horne of "Marvin" guitars in Los Angeles. Finish work was by Pat Wilkins.

By the way, except for the Rob Allen "mouse" which is short scale, all of the basses you see here are medium scalers.

I have a grand total of 6 basses…

And have only ever owned one more… the history is as follows…

Aria SB700 - first ever bass. Got in 1982. Fab bass, still love it.

Squier Jazz - bought in 1989. EMGs and Hipshot added. Defretted in about 1995, sold to help fund acoustic guitar in about 2000.

Tony Revell Custom built acoustic bass - commissioned in 1992.

1985 Mk 1 Wal Custom - bought second hand in 1992. My No 1 since I got it and done a gazillion church services and cover & function gigs.

1979 Wal Pro IIE - bought second hand around 2000/1. My No 2. Usually the gig partner of my other Wal.

Signature Frankenjazz - bought from BuildaBass on eBay in 2004. Hipshot Ultralites, Graphtech Saddles and Audere preamp added. Catswhisker 2+2 humbucking Jazz pickups added 2021. Done many gigs as No 2 when the Pro Series Wal was in need of some TLC and an overhaul in the mid/late 2000s. My main partner at regular local jam nights. It’s also a monster bass in its own right!

Faith Titan Neptune Acoustic Bass - bought in 2015.
