Since typing lacks a voice it was a comment based on the US made Patriot models pictured so just say 'Murca in whatever voice in your head you prefer. Made sense with the voice in my head which had a hoo-rah tone. Many will work. The Team America theme voice is also ok but the verbage isn't allowed.

It's funny because when I asked about the word I seriously thought it was a another language!

I had a '00 TBird for a few years and it was an excellent bass.
I really like the Bi-SonicBird!!! One of my favorite pickups. I have a Hagstrom Coronado 4 with an original set.

Thanks! I'm sold on the Darkstars, both the Guild RI and Novak versions (which are on the matte black Fender-bird bass in the pic) I have installed them on a number of my custom builds and my band bass (Teiscobird) has the Guild RI in it and it rocks!

This is the current version of my 'branding' on the "Bi-Sonicbird" (I like that!) - very fitting for how it destroys ...

Hi. Thanks. It's an original '73. The anodized pick guard is from an '83, I believe, but not sure what series, as I've never seen another like it... it's almost more of a copper color.

My favorite in this group is the black reverse headstock...red comes in a close second.

Sometimes I wonder what goes through my mind. One job I detest is rebating for binding so I'm at a loss to explain doing front/back edge binding on that one Went with a poplar body, paired it with an extra chunky maple neck.

Not much to the red one. Tight spacing on the Guild PU forced me to go with a jazz type neck and a really old BBOT 2 saddle bridge I had lurking in the spares box. Red top is a leatherette vinyl, I'd been looking at old Italian basses before starting the build

In '06 when the Jag bass was introduced (a high-point for Fender in my book), I stopped by at 'Banana's at Large' in Marin to play one at that years end. I demo'd a red Jag and also played the (over-the-top) mustard-coloured CIJ '51 RI P which was intro'd the same year. (the second iteration of the '51 RI for Fender) and comparing the two I ended up buying the P-bass. After a short while I grew tired of the (non-authentic) colour and (limited) tone... so I modded it.

...you know the bass it turned into... I doubt I would have felt the need to mod the Jag.

I really like it a lot. It's the second iteration so the improved preamp (that I seldom use lol) and the more rearward bridge pickup. I had one of the first run, a hot rod red w/matching peghead and it was nice too but this CAR one is the magic one. I flipped the hot rod red one to get my AVRI58 and I'm not a bass flipper per se but it wasn't a hard choice once I fondled the 58. This one stays.

Interesting... yah, the one I demo'd was the gen 1 hot rod red version. I wasn't aware they moved the bridge pu and produced it in CAR. If I would have played that one it might have been a different story...

Yes, HRR = CIJ, CAR = MIJ. The CIJ had a pretty thin neck, much like a CIJ Geddy and 70s-ish spacing, this one has a thicker neck, a quieter preamp, and the rear pickup is further back than 70s spot so a really growly, snotty little thing. Now if I could only find it a MIJ Cobalt blue soulmate. That's one of the best "modern" factory colors they've had IMHO.

Happy retirement to Rob Green & crew... I need another bass so this isn't the only one getting played all the time. Always did enjoy the aesthetics and tone of the Warwick Thumb NT 4... and that would keep up with my 26-fret theme :]

Dude if you can ever find one used, go for it. However I don't think they ever made too many of these (and I suspect mine was the very last.) aI was concerned just how stable a 26-fret neck could be but this thing is laser-straight. Status made them with different pickups over the years but I imagine they're all good.

Yeah, it looks like I may have missed an opportunity to order a new one. They had an example on their site gallery that had a swamp ash body with a trans-to-black burst (I think they called it “matchbook”) that was what I was hoping to commission one day when I had the readies. I’ll keep a keen eye for one. I’m happy for you to have snagged such a gorgeous thing. Well done!

Does it balance well considering the top horn/strap peg is at the 15th fret and the bridge is nowhere near the lower bout with a neck that long? Thunderbirds are notorious for stretching to 1st position... I can't imagine what it would be like on that bass.
