Yup. With a Hagstrom pickup. One of Fat Dog’s creations from Subway Guitars in Berkeley. He put that together for me in the early ‘80s.

I recently did something... similar - Japanese Hollowbody Longhorn bass project and Harmony H-19 guitar resurrection
Very cool. I’ll have to peruse that thread when I have more time.
I’ve seen the same body used with an electric guitar. Was from a video shot in the late 60s. Can’t recall the band.

There were a lot of these bodies from the late '60s, and still a few out there. Most likely overstock sold when Coral tanked in '68. They were made in Japan by Kawai (also badged Teisco) and used for basses & guitars.

I'm often meh on them but it's a good one. Some are.
Finished my bronco based build other than aged sonic blue repaint (in the spring). 7 pickup combos via two switches.
Strung with labella DTF lights. Headstock decal is a waterslide I printed.

Just finished tweaking a stunning Bacchus I got from Danny at bassjapandirect.com. The stock hardware/electronics were ….. okay. But my high bar for sound, weight and playability demanded some upgrades. Swapped in some Duncan Design pups ( because I love them, and they’re completely underrated and sound fantastic with the right pre) I also added an Audere 2 band boost/cut preamp with VTC. Wired the Pan control in reverse like my Sadowsky as to avoid confusion on stage. The Audere is so sweet in that everything’s mounted to a circuit board. No rats nest of wires. Really cleans up the control cavity ALOT. And having a VTC? Simply a must. I swapped the large chrome knobs for the Sadowsky style aluminum type, and remounted the pre on the plate to lower the pots further into the cavity for a more flush look. ( I know, not too OCD). Added hip shot A style bridge for proper spacing and pickup
Pole alignment, and hip shot ultralight tuners. The bass is clear blue over a book matched quilt laminate top, with a lightly flamed maple fingerboard. Body is 1 piece Alder. And it weighs a slim 8.1 lbs. turns out the body is almost identical to the Sadowsky undersized “J”/ mighty mite body, but the neck block is slightly tilted towards the neck vs my Sadowsky.
Gigging it tomorrow. Can’t wait….
