My Missing Tele Bass

This is my stolen Fender Telecaster Bass. The photo is from the late 80s. Correct me if I am wrong, but looking at the head it has the rare 1968 Telecaster Bass logo. Besides that, it looks like it was modified. Any information on this bass would be greatly appreciated. I am on a mission to find it someday.

Not exactly an impulse buy, but I did decide this week I want one. I already have a Bronco bass, but I thought I'd like to upgrade to something a little nicer for a short scale.

My local Guitar Center had one so I stopped in to see how it feels. For an off the wall bass I was happy with it. The action was a little high, but there were no high frets and the fretboard looked nice.

Now that it's home I'm pretty happy with it. It's nice & punchy and extremely light.

I do have a couple small issues.

For one, there was no sheilding at all. Not the worst thing in the world for a "humbucking" pickup, but it did have some hum and rubbing the pickguard produced static. Not a hard fix, but I kind of hoped they would have taken care of that in the factory.

The other thing is my low E string is surprisingly low output compared to the rest of the strings. It sounds much quieter and there isn't much power behind it. Can't be the pickup because the A string sounds great, so I'll need to troubleshoot.

I'll probably change the pickguard to pearloid to give it a more interesting look at some point too.

Wanted to follow up now that I've had it for a few days. This is quickly becoming a favorite. It plays so comfortably and sounds fantastic.

The low E issue I had was a pretty easy fix. It had to do with the break angle behind the saddle. After pushing it down everything is loud and clear.

Special ordered it in 1978 - stolen a few years later
and my 1978 KRAMER XL-8 , stolen in 83
FN theives
To this day I still check pawn shops and music stores .

What do the slashes across the switches mean?

It means no option on the switch 'slashed' will change anything related to the other 2. Each switch has 3 options - as you can see, all three in the middle position is all 4 coils engaged..

Thanks! It was a rocker! I always liked the Outlaw bass. Having a special bass stollen sucks.

I loved the way you hung them so tightly. That's a really nice collection!

I've used a laser pointer to line up all the hooks and measured the distance between each body size, I came up with the idea of one hook up and one down so that the belly of each bass would fit as a jigsaw against the scoop of the next one, I then leave all the straps on so that in case of any side movement when I pick one up won't let the two body knock against each other so the straps work as protection, this does not work for the D-Roc because the strap pins are mounted on the back of the body, so I have to be careful with that one.
