Is it really good for the neck to remove all the strings? Doesn't the neck get weird when all that tension i released? I've learned to change one string at a time for that reason, but then again, there are a lot of myths in bassism.

well in my experience... it doesn't matter: I had a bass refinished, neck was tensionless for 2-3 weeks, strung it up, and played it for a show that night...
sure there are some neck out there that are really sensitive... but in general I don't think it really matters...

This actualy isnt a myth, im not 100% sure but i believe that this "Advise" became popular in the 70s when fender quality control went down and wraped necks started to be a more common problem. Gibsons 3 point bridge is also a PITA to restrung if you take all the strings off at once.
Actually there might be situations where i wouldnt do such thing (IE: if im gigging in winter with the bass and right after the show when i get home decide to restring it right away), but in general this is a safe procedure.
+1... on guitars with floyd rose system you can't change the string all at once... the whole system will crash and burn...
so it really depends on the bass I guess...

I have a couple new toys to report. 
First up, is the very first Exotic Custom made by Pete Skjold. After acquiring this instrument, I sent it back to Pete for some tweaks, and we ended up swapping out the pickups for DC's (still EMG), and Pete routed the slots a bit deeper so that we could get the pickups a little lower. I also had him wire it vol/vol (with p/p on each knob for dual coil - series - or single coil). The 3-band EMG pre remains unchanged. He also refinished the body, and tweaked the neck a bit. It definitely sounds different than my other Skjolds, but I really like those EMGs in there! The series/single coil option is awesome!
Pete's basses have come a long, long way since this one was made, and at first, I thought of this bass as mostly a 'collector's item.' But, I just flat out love the way it plays and sounds, and so I guarantee, it'll see more than its share of gig time!

Finally, I've been generally fond of the Ibanez ATK basses since I first played one way back when (early 90's?). So, I was definitely pleased when I heard that they would be re-introducing the series. Then, at NAMM, I got a chance to check out the two pickup version with the 5-way coil selector switch, and I at that point, I knew I must have one!
The next thing I knew, my weakness for koa kicked in, and I had this on the way:
