Point of focus is the title, "New England." Notice how the word "New" is in focus, but the last few letters of the word "England" are beginning to drift out of focus.

nice, although for a sec I thought that second one was a wet dog with half its face gnawed off.
Nope, just a pretty basic Nikkor 50 mm f1.8 lens on a Nikon FE2.
And there's a UV filter in front of it.
I'd like to get a quality 35 mm f1.8 lens, but those are kinda pricey on the market.
The sky was pretty grey as well, hence the low contrast.
Thanks for the tip on the yellow filter.
However, most of what I do is street photography, often no skies involved.
