Hey, guys. Haven't been here in a while. Busy..

Pacman,

I think this is a great portrait.. It really works for me even with the white background. I have to add that I'm on my laptop and color rendition is not as good on my desktop monitor but it looks really great to me.

Thanks Brad! I actually like the lighter background, too - it emphasizes the mood better than a dark background would.

Can I ask you what you're shooting on? (camera, lens) Your pics look great - super sharp!

This is from my end-of-9th-Grade Spanish class trip to Madrid and Valladolid, with a day in Toldeo. Really like the colours on this shot:

my drummer - he saw shots I did of another co-worker, and asked me to shoot one for him. I kinda like it

I like everything about it except for the framing, there's something that bothers me, can't say what it is though.
IMHO, the "center of gravity" is off to the left due to the drum at the bottom. I'd frame him just slightly further to the right (or crop some off) to give a more overall balanced look. If it wasn't such a fairly pure background, I might feel differently tho. FWIW/IMHO.

Wow, tough crowd! I like the shot...although you guys have the better eye for the details of real phogography than I do. The drum may make things a little off balanced, but since the pic looks to me to be centered on the left eye in the pic, and if you crop off some of the right space in the picture, his head/face may then look off centered...isnt' that the most important part of the portrait? Don't flame me...I'm not even an amatuer, just my meeger opinion! I guess I'd have to see that side by side to see what youre talking about.

Well, at least the way I view the pic, if his face was meant to be focal, it would probably be closer to the center of the picture. I personally view the drum as significant, making it more of an overall thing, which is probably why I view his entire image as being equally focal, and why I'd go for a more overall balanced look.

No biggie tho... this is art... just MHO on that.

Canon 5D mrkI, 50mm 1.4, 85mm 1.8, Tamron 24-75mm 2.8

Tried my hand at shots of a friend. Only learned that my 85mm may have been better suited than the 50mm. Going to try again this weekend.

My reflector could've come in handy for this one, but there is something I kind of like about it.
