Not to be a perv but there is something very vaginal about this image. Nice work.

Jon, your skill at portraits is coming along very nicely.

I would suggest using a darker background, though not black, to put more emphasis on the subjects.

Rather than write it again, allow me to post a link to one of the photography sites I frequent.

I posted this three years ago. I'm no portrait master, but I've learned a few things over the years. My post is number 5.

An update to my rule my #5 is: I've started using fill flash more than I used to. I've also bought a prime lens for portraits, a Pentax 70mm f2.4, and recommend buying a prime lens to everyone.

Portraits, and especially portraits of women are my favorite subject in photography.

I assume the two women in your portraits above are your wife and daughter.

You're a lucky man to have two pretty subjects readily available.

PM me if you want to talk more about portraits.

Mike ;)
Who is this Mike Bokeh guy? (Shhhhh) :)

I agree on the background color. It's too similar to the complexion of your subjects. It almost seems as if the camera white balanced with your wife's shirt and then with your daughter's complexion (notice how the assumable same backdrop is greenish in the first image and redish in the second). I'm also left wondering if that's a studio backdrop or just a bare wall,...I'm inclined to thing the latter.

I took my boyfriend's bass home the other night to clean it up for him, so I ended up taking pictures of it. I took all with my phone too. Experimented with the different options. I really was impressed with the negative exposure ones...

Ahh, I don't know I'm still new to all this, it just looked like a too high ISO setting to my nublet eyes, and I've got no camera yet (lol) but I'm learning some from photo.net and the technique section of digicambuyers, hopefully it'll make the learning quicker once I buy mine.

Oh man, lots of talent in this thread.

Here's of a few of my (mostly) recent shots. Some were taken with a Sony point-n-shoot, some with a friend's Nikon D60, and some with a Nikon D90 that I just bought. I don't manipulate the images in any way. If you look closely, you can see my inexperience insofar as I should have been using ~ f/11 for some of the outdoor shots, but I left the camera on autopilot and consequently only the foreground is as sharp as it could be. Live and learn...
