Well, I've personally got a few reasons myself:

1) I had a pretty hard time parting with that much money as it is as I'm not currently an actively gigging musician.

2) The pickups got in my way a bit when I played it.

3) I honestly got confused by all of the switches and such and the guys at the store didn't know what they do, mom and pop dealio.

Pickup up this 94 streamer bolt on with a maple neck. I love unfinished maple necks. The proline on the previous page is going back.

I'm guessing it's at a price point where people are willing to pay more or the same for an instrument/sound that they are clear about what they specifically want. The $$ is very versatile and a great instrument, but when you want something very specific, and you're willing to pay, you're gonna get exactly what you want, not the bass that "does it all." imo

I think it's versatility is it's biggest selling point. It was for me anyway. I play such a range of styles, and wasn't willing to pay that sort of cash for a "one trick pony" as it were

i'm not sure if they've ever been standard options: possibly the d-tuner and pickup choice. the wood was the norm 10 years ago, yes.

Sorry if this has already been covered (if it has, could someone let me know where), but has anyone got their hands on a 2010 Warwick Rockbass Streamer LX? I'm really liking the idea of that body shape (I can't tell if it's contoured or not from the pics, but I doubt it at that price) with an unlined ebony fretboard, two piece bridge and PJ pickups. Looks (on paper anyway) like it could be a pretty cool fretless for relatively little money if it's built right.

If you can't find anyone here that has one, check out the warwick forums; they actually have a forum dedicated to Rockbass and I think you're chances would be higher there.

It's a flat slab body.
