Thought I'd share my '94 Thumb NT that I purchased in '99. I'm still trying to track down info on the inlays. I don't know if they are factory, but they are beautiful - abalone/shell surrounded by brass.

I need some corvette 6 advice. Anyone who has replaced the preamp and pickups please chime in.

My Corvette 6 needs a change up, I'm thinking new pickups and pre, something bigger and more open sounding. Mine came with factory installed Basslines soapbars. About 7 years ago I replaced the MEC 2 band with a Basslines 3 band pre. At this point I would love to have a bigger sound out of the bass. I feel like the current setup is limiting it's sound and potential.

I would like to try out some new pickups and a different pre but only something that would drop right in. Can you recommend some pickups that fit the current routes and your opinion of the sound?

Here's another pic of my bass. Its dark due to a refinish (ebony stain). Thanks to the stain (and a very little bit of polyurethane) I don't have to wax the body anymore (though some Smith's Wax is used occasionally anyway). I stained the neck too, but left it 'open wood' and thus wax it periodically.

It was in rough shape when I got it. Previous owner apparently never waxed the thing. But, after some careful sanding and staining, it looks tip-top! (and plays nice too)
