Gratz on the new Thumb! The grain on the other thumb is incredible.
Thanks, and Merry Christmas! Both Thumbs were incredible deals. The Dirty Blonde was only $1495.00 USD and the Thumb NT came from a seller on eBay, won for only $1425.00 USD! I only wish my camera could better capture the 3-D effect that wood grain has in the light - I'm still captivated every day!

This is funny to me becasue the last tinme i tried to take pics of my basses, my wife's shi-tzu decided to lay across the body of my Thumb. After i acted like i took her picture laying on it she got up and walked off. I guess thats all she wanted.

I had to hold a treat and tell him to sit for that picture. I love that dog and that bass more than I can express.

Ah yes, the SSII, one of Warwick's best basses...

Amen. I love them. Over the years I've owned several different models. The 1998 Thumb bass NT I owned was honestly the best playing one I've ever had. But it was neck heavy and I eventually sold it. I still miss that one. Right now all I have is SSII's. They are awesome. With my endorsement I can afford to buy any Warwick I want, but sadly I prefer the 90's models that had Wenge necks so I don't really want any of the newer ones. I just scan Ebay for used ones all the time.

Here is my small "collection" of Warwicks. I'll do a proper review of the Hot Rod Ltd. '05 soon as it is an uncommon bass and I'm sure some of you cats would like to know how it sounds.

Enjoy!

Im glad to see Im not the only one with a Hot Rod 5er!!! It is such a slick bass to play, and it looks friggin amazing as well! I use it for metal, which throws some people off, but it can really rip and at the same time be beautifully delicate in sound. I just love it and if I was homeless and had to sell it all, I woudl be homeless and own a Hot Rod 5er!

Just curious but what is that dark brown wark on the bottom half of your Thumb?

That line near the lower horn? It looks like a crack, it kinda makes its way round but stops before the front side of the bass. But I can't feel anything on the surface, and it's certainly not a real split or anything like that. Just the woods figuring i guess...

Funny, I hadn't noticed it for ages until you said something.

I was hoping that it was just in the figuring. Great looking basses too man. Your thumb is bubinga/wenge right? I really prefer that combo over the ovangkol.

Hey thanks dude. Yep, Bubinga & Wenge. I've never played an ovangkol necked thumb n/t, but I prefer the feel of the neck on my thumb over my ovangkol SSII.

Love your Thumb aswell! Old thumbs really are the best...
What strings did you have on in the 1st pic?

Hey Guys,
I've had my Warwick $$ 5er for a little while and i love it to pieces. I'm 99.9% sure i got one of the first ones from the Bass Centre in Melbourne, regardless the grain on mine matches the pic they have on their website so im claiming it :)

I've also added a pic of it hanging out with the rest of my gear.

Thanks to Dave Burgess & the crew at Bass People though im gassing for the gorgeous Set Neck Zebrano Infinity 4 they have there!!

Sign me up guys!

Cheers,
Luke
