Actually, it might be even sooner than that. I've got my eyes (and cash) set on a ridiculously low priced mint-ish Thumb NT 5 from 96', located in London. I just need to find a way to transfer the funds, as the seller doesn't use PayPal, and Western Union has a limit on how much you can transfer for 30 days.

Any tips on how I might make this happen? Is it possible with direct bank transfers, and how long does it typically take?

That's my old band's first EP in the strings.

That's gonna be one sweet bass! But I really don't have any ideas on what to do about the money, since I've only used PayPal for my purchases. You might try contacting the seller and see what he suggests...

I think a direct bank transfer would be the easiest, and most safe. Two separate security codes for sender and receiver. This deal won't probably last long, so I really have to think hard and quick about this. I've just secured a job for the summer, so I'm hoping that I can dare to spend some savings on this bass. The deal is so good, that I will have some money left.

I probably should not advise this, but I have never been let down when I jumped at deals. I won't pretend I'm not in debt, but I manage my bills and have an excellent credit rating. It's also not good to be in debt, but building a great credit rating is important to buying cars and houses. In your case, your not even having to use credit, but your savings account is also important to grow. I'm a crazy spender, and most people get into trouble doing what I do, so it's not good advice, but I would be more bummed if I missed out on opportunities - being rich isn't my goal in life, but I am a gear junkie! So I work hard to make my limited funds work to get what I desire when possible. It's all about making the dream come true... and landing on your feet. :D

Thanks for the props! It's a continuing labor of love, a nice place to collect and display my goods, and also helpful in case of insurance purposes (let's hope I never need it for that use! :eek: )

I'm a gear junkie and proud of my gear - in my twangstick days, I had a dream one night that I had a nice collection of guitars and could choose whatever I wanted to play each day. Well now I've seen this dream come true over the last year, thanks to great clearance and used deals and primo used pieces at low prices on eBay.

Just to clarify, the savings account I'm talking about isn't my primary savings account (which is a lot bigger), but an account with gear fund. I've been looking for an upright, but I really don't wanna pass on this deal.

Heck, I could probably even sell the bass at a profit if I wanted.

Oh, then you're even better off. I wouldn't pass on the deal either - you're gonna LOVE the Thumb NT5 with wenge neck!

I just got my second warwick (arrived today), its a streamer std (german made old) 5 string, my first was a streamer stage 1 4 string both bought off ebay (£175 std and £650 stage 1), and having played the STD i'm shocked at the little difference in quality of build, sound and feel that there is between the two extremely different priced instruments. and it's not that the S1 is 2 expensive, its that the STD feels and sounds amazing, wow, picks of both soon :), xx

True that. People are unloading Wicks on the Bay for wicked cheap! I got my Corvette Std 4 Fretless for $700 and can't believe the quality and sound, especially for that price. And it ain't beat up junk I'm talking about: most of the pieces I've seen are in stellar shape. Mine is mint!

Absolutely. My eBay scores:

2000 Thumb NT 4 - $1425.00, MINT condition!
2000 Streamer Std. LTD/Swirly Bubinga Top - $750.00, PRIMO MINT condition
1999 Streamer Stage 1 - $1600.00, Excellent condition - body and finish is MINT, hardware is "mojo vintage faded"...

And rockstarbassist, that is a beautiful Dolphin ya got there - just look at that grain! :drool:

I totally happened across it by accident on eBay. I think it was Bass Specialties who had it listed, and it ended at like 10:00PM on a Sunday night, so the taking was all too easy! :cool:

It sounds and plays like a dream. It's pretty much the only bass I use for church or when I'm playing w/ in-ears. The tone is just divine!

Sweet! The Dolphin is the one Warwick I keep as my out-of-reach dream. Believe it or not, I actually don't like it when I own all my dreams and have nothing to drool at from a distance! The Dolphin is also the fist Warwick I had ever seen and I thought it was the only bass they made. It left me with the impression that Warwick were an exotic boutique bass manufacturer. After seeing and the rest of their line, my opinion hasn't changed - it's just grown even fonder! :D
