i went to ace hardware store and they did not sock any howards feed and wax. so i bought Lord Sheraton Beeswax Balsam. been waxing it twice last week. theres no wait and dry applcation. it just apply and polish off. so far so good. i dun have before and after picture but i will try to post some when i got some time in hand.

A little shop near my workplace has a thumb in stock.....since years..... nobody wants it and therefore the owner dropped the price below 1000. Technicals: Bolt on 5er, Bubinga body, Ovancol neck, active Bartolinis. No dings, no dongs, perfect condition. It looks just the kind of used and unloved from hanging around in that shop for too long. I have played it and it sounds like expected, wicked (pun alert)
BUT, I am hunting for years for a fortress flashback in cherryred with lipstick pickups. I almost bought one around 1998 or so but didn`t have the money then. Dont ask me why, I just want one.I instantly fell in love with the flashback an couldn`t get at it, darn.

Well, if you were in the states I'd say buy the Thumb...'cause you aren't finding a Flashback unless you get really lucky. Don't know if they're more common in Germany.
Anyway, I traded for a Thumb B.O. fiver about a week ago. Had to noodle around on it for a while to make sure, but its definitely a keeper.
Today my Dolphin Pro I arrived! I've always admired the Warwick Dolphin from a distance, but at $2400, I couldn't resist!
It is a 1996, 5-string, handmade Boire body, C-shape 7-piece Wenge neck with Zebrano laminates and no volute - very fast and smooth! Brass JAN 1, Platinum hardware, and flush-mount Dunlop Straplocks. I then added satin dolphin inlay knobs to top it off. Not only is this a highly sought-after version of the Dolphin Pro I, this one has only had a few hours of use on it (it was kept by a German collector, not a scratch on it), so it is still brand new!

No, Warwick also makes hardcases and flight cases.

Here's a pic of my Thumb 5 NT with my old amp rig. I gotta get some better pics and with my newer rig.
It's a 2003 (I think) Thumb 5 NT with Bartolini 59CBJD pickups and an Aguilar OBP-3 preamp installed.
the wick that i bought came in their rockbag, i seldome like to use gigbags cos i kinda worried they dun protect the bass enough.
i remember like 18yrs ago or something that all wicks will come in form fitted hardcases.
you reckon i should get one of those form fitted hardcases for the vette or just get a generic hardcases to use it? do they stll sell them? or its all generic rockcases?

I dunno, I love the RockBags myself. They're easier to store and transport and they are so well padded, I don't worry about my Warwicks ever getting damaged.
If you want a hard case, you can either have a local Warwick dealer order a RockCase through Dana B. Goods or just get a nice SKB or similar universal case for less money.
I bought a Rockbag a little while ago and the thing completely fell apart. Not in one area, all over. The seams all came undone, and I dont' abuse my gear. I actually bought a Musicians Friend gig bag for like $9 because I needed a quick replacement and it's actually served me far better than the Rockbag.

I'm thinking about getting a Corvette for my next bass, but can't decide on the standard or the $$.
If I were to get a $$, I was thinking of swapping out the pickups for Seymour Duncans, has anyone done this, and what sort of change in tone would there be? And would I still be able to use the coil tap feature?
With the standard what does it sound like with a pick? I know I should go and try it out first, but Warwicks are pretty rare around here, so I would have to go a long way to find one.

+2 MEC $$ pickups look great with those big open pole-pieces, they sound incredible, and they are extremely versatile!
Corvette Std. will give you a more Fender jazz bass tone, however, if you get the bubinga body one, it will have a more modern growl. Also, get the active version because the passive one will pick up a lot of electrostratic hum and buzz. I had to change the pups on my Corvette Std. fretless to dual inline coil noise-free Bartolinis because the buzz was too much. My $$ is a more aggressive bass but the ash body gives it a different tonality than the bubinga on the Corvette Std.
yeah i guess a universal cases should be easier to get around but i am worried its does not snulgly fit the vette. The local warwick dealer really suck major balls. they dun stock and they charge an arm and a leg and even a kidney to order it in.
i recently found prolly a good replacement for the rockbag, got this local bloke, who owns a small boutique music store specialising in bass gears, he made a few custom gig bags, and got this particular model call the 'spork' which caught my attention.
