I just got a Corvette FNA 5, Blk transp flame Maple..part of a trade. It seems everyone is telling me,
"look out!..better get a chair..they're heavy!"
other guys,"the neck feels like a telephone pole cut in half".yadda yadda..
I gotta say, there are TONS of Warwick players, they're all over the forums,auctions.. There's GOT to be something special about them..
Can someone tell me something nice about my new bass?..please.
and how heavy are we talkin?
ash body? thought ash was light! is it the Wenge?..Wenge's super dense, right?

Yours shouldn't be that bad when it comes to weight.

Its the African wood ones that tend to pull down on your shoulders. Adding an all wenge neck to a bubinga or ovangkol body can definately start adding pounds. Corvettes have an extended horn, so the balance will be better. Get yourself a wide leather strap if it gives ya trouble.

As for the necks... well I havn't come across one that's any more thick than a Musicman Stingray's neck. They get pretty large when you start going to the 6 string basses, but who's doesn't? I still say alot of the neck complaints come from guys who prefer needle thin necks like Schector and Ibanez. If you prefer something like that, then Warwick necks are gonna drive you batty.

Though I've never played an FNA, i've played several FNA jazzmans.

Wenge necks just don't move. There's a plus, that sucker isn't gonna need adjusting any time soon. Maple and Swamp ash with a humbucker? My guess is that you're gonna have a fat bottom end, then the body woods are gonna give you a clearly defined agressive sound. You're low end will be well defined and your highs will be sweet and mellow.

No trussrod?

really?!?

Yeah, I got it for $200 because the original truss rod was broken. I had my luthier order a new one from Warwick, and eventually it finally arrived. however it broke as well once the bass was strung up, so now it has no truss rod and it out of comission until I can find a proper one that will do the job.

thanks, i have a skinny neck on my main 4,but hey, we tend to adapt to whatever we have, isn't that so?..
I've had over 25-30 basses at least, and never thought a neck felt too wide to play, i'm bothered by scale length more, the strettchhing on the low frets bugs me,so I usually use my 32" scale, my seller said the same thing, his MM's neck is the same,or fatter..and the ash must help a bit on the weight,ahh..ok, you've eased my mind, mission accomplished:hyper:

About a month ago, I had a connection in a local music store when I saw a lonely Warwick Corvette sitting in the "used" section. I picked it up and looked it over. A detailed inspection made me question weather or not it had been mislabled. From a chip-free head to the complete absence of any bucklerash and shiny hardware, this thing looks showroom new. It played perfectly; I'd been trying to get this Victor Wooten rif down for weeks but kept screwing up the middle. As soon as I picked up this bass I nailed it first try, and with beautiful warwick tone. I brought in my Rockbass and traded it, along with a rediculously low sum of money, for this beautiful guitar. I think this one's a keeper.

02' Corvette Standard 4 string.

You $$ owners, I'd like some info, if you please.

how's the sound on those babies? Pretty versatile I presume? (because of the switches). Is the Swamp Ash/Wenge combination neck heavy?

I'm looking for a bit Music Man-esque sound, and buying a W with a humbucker (or 2) would be 50% cheaper than buying the real thing. In addition to the fact that I'm pretty much accustomed to my Corvette Standard already. Can't beat that bubinga growl. :)

Gotta snap a picture at some point and aquire the membership. I am a Warwick guy after all..
