I am trying to decide on which Wawick to buy. I play mostly Rock and Metal and am looking for a big , fat, rich bottom end. As far as power I have an Ampeg SVT-CL running through an Ampeg 4x10 hlf. Its the larger 410 cabinet with the bottom ported. I also run the big Ampeg SVT-18 (the 18"). Now it's time to look for the ultimate bass. I am looking at both Warwick and Alembic. You Warwick guys must know which of these Warwicks deliver the sound I am looking for? Also I don't want a neck that is hard to get a grasp on. I have a disability that makes it tough to stretch my fingers or grasp to hard. So i also have to consider the neck size, I guess a small to medium size neck is ok, nothing huge!

not too sure bout neck sizes...but id look at the corvette fna or a thumb. purely because I play a corvette in a metal band and it sounds awesome and i wanna get a thumb! check out mudvayne to hear a thumb bass in metal music.

You'll have to try them. Warwick necks are on the thick side (P bass), compared to the thin size (Ibanez / Peavey / Yamaha). Really, a try before you buy, especially if you have a disability. No point having a nice sounding bass if you can't play it. I love Warwicks, but They are not basses I would recommend blindly.

Check out some basses, ergonomically, Ibanez SR / Peavey Cirrus / Yamaha TRBs / Zons Sonus are very comfortable and easy going, some are 35'' scale though. They all have plenty of bottom, and are used in rock / metal quite effectively.

I dont know if anyone has mentioned this model yet but it's brand new and as far as a "metal looking" Warwicks go, I thought it looked pretty cool...I own a Thumb NT 4 and am usually more for the Neck through body models before any of the bolt on stuff that warwick makes but I must say this one is looking particualrly interesting.

The Vampyre BO "Dark Lord" is a 35-inch, extra-long scale bass that is tuned, from low to high, F#, B, E and A!...etc...look on the Warwick website for everything but pretty cool!...It'd be cool to see that with some side red LED fret markers. I wouldnt mind giving one of those a go. I hope the L&M near me orders one!

I think that Darklord is ridiculous. I can't see anyone having any use for the F#. If it was on a 6 string bass it wouldn't be so bad...

You're obviously not a fan of Death Metal :)

Some guitars go down the F#. I guess it goes with the "my pots go up to 11" philosophy :D

They run into some sort of design troubles, with the thickness of the string, the bridge pickup placement, and the bolt on aspect. Maybe all that to tighten up the sound. Noneless, I would love to see what people can do with it.

I'm actually a huge fan of death metal... Cannibal Corpse being my fav followed by Dying Fetus... But that "Darklord" model is sorta cheesy if ya ask me. F# if a bit low, Espically seeing how you no longer have a d or g. This bass would be useless for anything other than death metal if ya ask me, Id rather get another thumb 6 and down tune.

I still love warwicks... but not a fan of that darklord model...

Today I played a Warwick Corvette Standard in a shop. It was the first Wick I have played, and it blew my mind! I have major GAS pains right now :crying:

Unfortunately there is no way that I will be able to afford one for three years probably, as I will be going to uni next year. Anyone like to give me freebie? A 5-string $$ in French Violet would be just perfect! :D
