Sorry guys but I played a Warwick Vampyre (as i like the body style) in a store the other day, and well i was not impressed, it was chunky clunky and sounded like crap I was actually quite disappointed, however a played a corvette made from bubinga and it blew me absolutely away.....but the $1,500.00 list price made me look elsewhere for the time being...

Hey, clubbers! I'm looking for a Warwick player that plays through a GK Backline 210. I want some reviews. I'm thinking seriously of picking one up.

I've got two FNA Jazzman 5-strings; one fretted, one fretless. I'd love to join the club, but no pics, yet, so when it's for "real" I'll get back on that one.

Any players with the GK that would like to share their experiences?

Thanks!

Well I havent tried the Backline 210 but I tried the Backline 600 with a Backline 410. It had a good tone that was really punchy but it made a lotta noise. It did have a punchy cutting gritty tone though and a built in overdrive. It works well with Warwicks and it maintains that growl. Its a good choice but it would be a lot to lug around for me.

What kind of fretboard is on the fretless? I've been thinking about defretting one of my FNA's, but I hear bad things about the Wenge fretboard.
Fretboard's wenge. I love playing on it, but don't know how it would work to de-fret a wenge and fill in. (My fretted is wenge, also). Maybe that's the "bad things" you've heard about. Maybe it just doesn't fill in well... My only recomendation would be to find a luthier you really trust to do it right.
It's a smoothe playing board, though. I love it!:bassist:

Yeah. It's the "lug-around" factor that I'm trying to get away from. I've got a Behringer head and 4/10 Fender cab and I keep using my Laney combo just because it's a lot less work to get to and from, and my gigs have been smaller. ..although the Laney has been a great "work-horse", and has a pretty good sound, but I'm looking for more headroom. The Laney is only 75 watts.;)
Thanks for the info!

Well portability was an issue for me so I just recently got a Nemesis 2x10 combo (which is my first REAL bass amp not justa practise one) and that pumps it out 250watt really well and only weighs about 50 pounds or so. It sounds awesome with Warwicks and is really transperant. Thats what I would recommend.

Sounds like it's worth looking into. I just also heard really good things about Markbass, too. A little more pricey than the GK, though. Thanks for the info!

Cmon man, you gotta be kiddin' me :-) The Vampyre looks weird to me, but has a really nice sound. Check Seth Horan on youtube ;-)

The Vette Bubinga is a very nice bass indeed. $ 1500? You can find it for much less money, just give it a try.
I consider the Corvette Standard Bubinga to be the best buy for that kind of money.
@ COSMOREVERB- Looks like Ovankol to me. The oil finished bodies get darker and darker in time :-)
@ Grueber. Warwick Fretless basses are with Tigerstripe Ebony. I don't think defretting a Wenge frettboard is a very good Idea.
@ ao connor, Katana is a very nice instrument. As far as I know it was a project like "build your dream bass" in Japan, and this one was the winner.
However, you should know that it has a more conventional sound then other Warwicks, being made of maple.

cool, i kinda want a more conventional sound cause i already have a bubinga standard corvette. i might go balls out on this and get what i really want. black oil finish, black hardware, bass inlays on the neck and knobs, "Weapon of Choice" on the 24th fret. GAS attack :D
