here's my good ole' Corvette FNA.....
24dMedium.gif

cant tell in the pics but she's got some road rash, and it's not my main instrument anymore but I keep her around anyways......

my 2 warwicks:

1. natural 5 string thumb bolt-on.... i tore out the electronics & replaced them with an aguilar obp-2. I found the highs to be less brittle sounding and the lows to be more defined & less boomy.

2. Green 4 string corvette proline. It's strung BEAD. I took out the warwick pickups & preamp & replaced them with EMG's and a passive tone control. MUCH more volume, much smoother highs, and also after doing this I found that I liked how the passive tone control works more than the active bass/treble. it seems much more musical.

Got any sound clips of this one on it's own? The lows are a little boomy for my taste with my thumb and I'm interested in this.
I like the song and video in your sig by the way.

hey thanks ! :)

if you go to my site www.orange-records.com & go into the "warwick"directory ie:

http://orange-records.com/warwick/

there is a recording of the thumb & also my corvette . the corvette has emg's & passive electronics. the thumb has stock (MEC) pickups & aguilar obp-2 preamp.

I struggled with boomy lows on my thumb too. what i found was that the eq is voice weirdly & boosting the loows adds too much muck. the aguilar preamp helped this

what I found most of all though, was it makes a huge difference what amp & cab you use.... what are you using?

Thanks a ton, that sounds awesome. I think and Aguilar pre is going on my GAS list. I'm actually using an Aguilar Ag500 amp with their 1x12 cab now.
I found the same thing with the EQ. It gets boomy pretty fast, so I leave the bass almost flat. I'd like to be able to get a deeper tone out of it without a lot of knob twisting on my amp. Sounds like the pre may be the ticket.
Thanks again!

clips! clips!

I'm really curious to hear the diff barts make.
I played a pedulla yesterday that had "the bartolini" sound as I like to call it, and it was good (but not good enough to cough up the $900 for the bass - didn't like the feel of the neck)

I don't hate MEC's like many others, but I'm always open to new doors (and I do like the bart sound).

Well, I was hoping to put up some shots of my new-to-me 97 Thumb, but the sun has been hiding so I will chuck up the shots of it taken by the store I bought it from....

I adore the tone of this thing and the neck is fast and beautiful. I had been lusting after a decent 4 string for a while and I think I made the best move possible.
3 cheers for Warwicks!!
