My first influence in the 60s was McCartney. Then in the 70s Chris Squire, John Wetton, Jack Bruce, and John Entwistle, Then in the 80s I got into Geddy. These days Geddy is my favorite.

It's hard indeed to name ONE influence, and I think maybe the only approach for me to answer so hard a question is to name the one who made me pick up the bas, and to whom, from time to time, I go back to, even though a decade anda a half ago I took a very different path towards more experimental rock and stuff.

It's, of course, Steve Harris.

I second that. Mr Harris made me pick up the bass too, and is my largest influence.

McCartney by a mile. So much so that I find myself purposely not listening to him before I record in the vain hope that I might come up with something vaguely original. It hasn't worked yet, but I keep trying.

From the depths of my soul, that would be Jamerson, not that I try to emulate him, I don't. I've certainly had lots of influences but his work and creativity have inspired me since I was a kid growing up south of Detroit in the '60s, long before I even knew his name.
