The Pedulla Club!

Hey all,

I hope this finds everyone well, enjoying your Pedullas like I enjoy mine! I have a quick question though. Do any of you own both a Thunderbass & a Thunderbolt? (Preferably in the same wood configuration). I've been thinking about this alot recently, and I realize that all of my favorite basses to play over the years have been bolt-ons, not neck-throughs. My thunderbass sounds incredible everytime I play it, but I was wondering how the thunderbolt compared to it. If you have both of them, what do you think?

I'd love to have this one:

Your thoughts are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

wow, the Tbolt in that pic is HOT. i've never played a thunderbass so i can't really compare, but my thunderbolt sounds amazing...

The Thunderbolt has a bit more of a old school jazz vibe to it, and I find that it is a tad bit brighter than the Thunderbass. Very, very subtle difference. In my view the Thunderbolt is one of the best contemporary updates to the "J" out there. Mike P. has actually mentioned to me on one occasion that he is surprised it doesn't get more attention compared to the neck throughs.

+1. I've visited Mike's shop on two occasions to have work done on my Thunderbolt. He said the same thing to me.

Cheers,
Kevin

Kevin-

What's your take on how the Pedulla/Bartolini/Thunderguts fits into a mix compared to the Sadowsky harness? With my basses, I've found that the Pedulla gets much more aggressive sounding with the switch activated, and the Sadowsky has a more "clean" kind of a punchiness to it. Curious to hear your thoughts.

Lonny,
I agree with you completely. In fact, I've never used the Thunderguts switch on a gig. It's too "over the top" for my tastes. The Thunderbolt has no problem cutting through without the Thunderguts engaged (IMO). The Sadowskys cut through effortlessly as well, but like you say, it's a cleaner, more subtle punch. Both great basses with different "personalities."

Cheers,
Kevin

Hi there, just wanted to share this i found on ebay, and ask if anyone has played one of pedulla's earlier instruments, how do they sound? this one looks beautiful to me. unfortunately there's no way i can spend money on a bass right now, on one hand there's the shipping to argentina, and also i have a baby on the way so i can only spend money on diapers. I'm trying to convince my wife that it would be great to give our baby a new bass her age, but she doesn't agree so far.
