Well, pickgaurds are only 45 bucks....
I think the Tort will look better, but I want a black JJ 5 string to put a tort pickgaurd on....
Hell, a single pickup black 5 and put a tort on it..... yum
Here is my 97 Penta-Buzz.
It was originally Blue-Green burst but it was badly damaged when it was knocked of a stand at a show so I sent it back to Michael for a new look.
Now it's finished in Trans-Rose and it's gorgeous!
This is one bass I will never sell. In fact I'm still looking for a Peacock Blue or Emerald Green MVP with 17mm spacing to give me a matched pair.
It has the best overall fretless tone I have ever heard. I am always amazed when I hear recordings of this bass. They just don't get any better.......

I'm still loving the well worn black MVP you used to own...I had mr. pedulla put in the updated electronics and it sounds amazing...if i ever inherit some money i may go for a refinish.
Thanks Mike, I'm glad you ended up liking that old black MVP. You should have it refinished someday. What color would you choose?
I really dig that trans rose over the flamed maple. Very distinctive and the combination of color and woodgrain suits the Buzz shape very nicely.

i'm actually john...but i did get the bass in a trade from mike, so your memory isn't all bad
in any event, the finishes all look so good i'd have a hard time choosing. i think my favorites are arctic night and light gold, and vintage cherry burst...although i doubt mine has flame male since it was a solid color...so i'm a little scared it will look boring.
You could always send it up to Pat Wilkins, and be the only guy on the block with a...Lake Placid Blue or (insert other random color) Pedulla.
