The Pedulla Club!

I’ve been gone from these parts for a long time, but with the retirement this year it occurred to me that this forum has become the greatest resource in the world for these basses. I’m pretty sure when I got my number 10 or 11 years ago I was playing a 4 string Rapture and a Cherry Red Pentabuzz. Since then many things have changed, my Buzz was stolen out of my car after a gig in 09, but I still have my Rapture. These days I’m using these four for the vast majority of my needs. The green buzz was purchased from the forums in 2010ish, and for obvious reasons has never left my home. The black 6 string I believe has a storied history on these forums, but I ended up snagging it from GC a few years ago, and it’s my Number 1 personal instrument these days. And the 5 string Thunderbolt I got this summer after the retirement was announced and it’s since become my workhorse for my main touring gig.

Your Rapture is in much better shape than mine! They would be twins if mine hadn't been dragged behind their car before i got to it!

I'm happy to have seen the light, even though I'm late to the party. '94, damn near mint. My very first fretless. She's been hanging around a local music shop for a few years. A beauty like this really shouldn't be ignored!

I have the ever popular 1990s Rapure RB4 in Teal. Was my main bass for several years. The bartolini soapbar has a great growly tone when wanted. Only reason I quit using it is I just prefer my SG Basses. The Pedulla is fantastic and will never part with it. It now resides in its case along with everything else that will fit in the extra gear closet....I probably should check on it. Photo is from probably 10 years or so ago. Man time sure does fly....always lusted for a 6 string Pentabuzz but never happened.

Has anyone done a touch up of their Buzz fingerboard?

Mine is fine except the 4th & 5th positions on the E string. It's also 34 years old so it's taken a while to get that wear.

I'm thinking about a dab of superglue right where it needs it...

I guess if I muck it up I won't be any worse off than I was.

Anyone in CA refinish these things? I'm near SLO so there's zero options near here.

I need back in, I miss my Pedulla's!!! I sold my basses to get my life long object of lust, a WAL MK-1 fretless. I've been wanting one since 1980, only to find out.....I'm not a Wal guy. So what I'm looking for is an MVP 5, with or without steel stiffening rods, 19mm or 17mm, it doesn't matter. I could REALLY GO FOR ONE that is in bad shape. I'm talkin' warped, twisted neck, broken neck, broken or maxed truss rod, parts missing, ANYTHING considered! I have the means to repair instruments even if they're dumpster worthy. Anyone out there with an MVP or even a BUZZ they don't feel is worthy of repairing, or don't want to spend the $'s to replace the truss rod......lets talk!
Thanks for looking!

Superglue and fine grit is worth a try.

I love Buzz basses and have owned a bunch over the years but that fingerboard finish is a double edged sword. It sounds and feels amazing but it’s always on the edge of needing some kind of repair. Even brand new ones I’ve owned or refinishes I’ve had done, after a few months there’s always something with the fingerboard finish. I know it’s supposed to be hard as glass... but in practice, it just isn’t.
