If I were interested, I'd want to see the grime, around the Barolini's of the MVP, cleaned away. At that price, any bass should be looking it's best in the listing, in my opinion. Not judging, just stating what I personally would want to see if I was preparing to spend close to 4k.
I'm still looking for a caramel 17.5mm Pentabuzz if anyone has one for sale or considering selling.
I've only ever seen one 'Buzz with a quilt maple top and it had a maple fretboard! Stunning is harly the word. The owner posted a pic here ages ago (if you're still out there, post that again).
Michael used that wood on some Nuance models but hardly ever on the MVPs.

I have to agree. A bit like getting your car profesionally detailed before listing it for sale. Yes it's only superficial details, but why put off potential buyers when a little time and elbow grease are all that is required...

Hey gang! I've got a couple of Buzz questions I'm hoping the group can answer for me. A Pentabuzz has been a dream instrument for me for 20+ years, but there are two features (in my mind) that it has to have and I'm curious about real-world experiences.
1. PJ pickups - It always seemed to me that the P pickup on the Pedullas was a little closer to the neck than on Leos basses. Not an issue for me as it's the sound of the Pedullas that I've been craving. But for those of you who have tried Buzzes back-to-back with PJ and JJ pickups configs, did you notice the difference and how noticeable was it?
2. Unlined fretless board - I've seen 3 of these total; a white (painted) 4-string JJ I found online a few months back, a 5 that was at the Guitar Center I worked at 15 years ago and was only there on my 1st and 2nd day, and a 6 I found a photo of online. This seems to be either a very rare option, or those that have them never give them up! Any clue how rare this is?
I mentioned to my wife that this is a dream instrument of mine and she's been looking for awhile, but we haven't yet found one meeting those two criteria. Are we hunting a unicorn?
I'm curious to hear this group's take on that.

I’m no expert but my feeling is that I doubt I’d notice much sonically as the result of the subtle pickup placement difference.
I haven’t seen many unlined fretless boards in my experience but it sounds like from what you’ve said they are out there. My guess is that was likely offered as a custom option which would probably point towards it being rare and folks holding on to them.

The buzz has 24 frets. Fenders are commonly fewer, so may just look like a different placement; The last time I saw an unlined for sale was in 2019. If I were giving myself advice, it would be to buy a cheap buzz or mvp, even if it's abused to see what's it's like in person. You may change your mind once it's in your hands and you wouldn't have wasted time-energy-money and you can surely resell it for what you paid.
Good point with the board length.
I have played them several times. The one at GC when I was working there was a green-blue burst, gold hardware, unlined board, and the closer spacing. It was on closeout (it was used) for $1700, but it played like garbage. I already wanted one at the time (I had played them before) so I set it up and dialed that action for maximum mwah. I was planning on buying it, but it sold the next day.
I do have some have some instruments that I've bought, just to try out. But since I know this is one I want, and have wanted for a long time, I'll likely hold it for the one I want.

Actually, it was this one. There are very few quilt maple MVPs out there. This may be the only quilt maple buzz with a maple fretboard he ever made.
