So envious.Family photos... (I realized that when I was looking at some of my older pics of my basses, I must have had an additional 12 Pedullas that I sold, and yes, I do regret; you can't possibly own too many Pedulla basses).
Sadly, the wood grain for the flame maple tops are difficult to see in the pics
1st pic:
Black Rapture-5 (just purchased) - bone stock. I really love how this bass sounds with a slight boost to bass and treble - nice and aggressive without being harsh
Red Thunderbass-5: this bass looks like it toured the world a couple times with a punk band (lots of mojo going on). SGD sidewinder pickups with a Darkglass Tone Capsule. Very, very glassy sounding.
Blue-burst Thunderbolt-5 (refinished by me) - Delano Driver HE pickups and an Audere classic 4-band preamp. In the spring, I plan on doing another refinish of this bass (not sure of the color yet). Coil tap for each pickup (parallel, single, series)
2nd pic:
Blue Thunderbolt-5: Bartolini Custom Pickups for Stienberger (I don't remember which pickup model, but from an email with Bartolini, they are reverse P topology) & John East Uni (the pickups in this bass are absolutely AMAZING!).
Red Thunderbolt-5 (my first ever Pedulla) - Nordstrand Dual Blade Neos and an Audere Classic 4 band preamp with a coil toggle (inner single coil / Series / Outer single coil). These pickups are very, very aggressive in single coil (way more aggressive than the bart single coils in the Rapture).
Violet Thunderbolt-5 (just purchased) - I kept the pickups, but used Bartolini's wiring diagram to run them in passive mode, and what a difference (so much more open sounding, and no longer compressed). Audere Classic 4 band preamp (toggle switch in not connected, just filling a hole)
Last pic is when I first did the refin on the Blueburst (originally teal top over clear maple)

Scored a minty Thunderbolt today. Literally looks like it's never been played. Even the OHSC is mint. Strings are dead (from years of sitting). Going to restring her and give her a setup. Hoping that she plays (and sounds) as great as she looks!

You can't see me very often but you definitely can hear my 1996 (?) Pedulla MVP5 in this video. Here I have used the middle position (both pickups) and medium old D'Addario Nickels. I took a risk and bought the bass last year from a seller in Thailand. It's not the prettiest one and has some wear and tear, but it is a great workhorse that I am not afraid to take to a gig and leave unattended.
The pots are scratchy, I'll need to do something about that and I'd love to have the little mid-bump switch, that other models have.

It sounds fantastic! Solid playing too (you lock in with the drummer really well). Love the moment you start pumping those low C's. Lick at 4:29 made me jump up a little.

Wow, thank you so much for the kind words! Mixing really only is a rarely practiced hobby of mine and I still have a lot to learn. But it's a lot of fun! I'm glad that I can make it sound like this at all by now.
You have no idea how much drums there was on the vocal signals! Anyway, pumping low Cs is my favorite part in this song. Glad you like it!
Is there such a thing as aftermarket Pedulla Rapture scratchplates? I only ask because the one on mine looks like it was cut out by a 3 year old. The screw holes are not recessed enough so that the screw heads sit proud and some of the screw holes arent even straight. This cant be normal for a Pedulla can it? I know the Rapture is lower down the line up but still...?
Not likely ready-made ones, but I've had custom pickguards made and installed for $80-100. Same local shop that does all my bass repairs can fabricate them.
It does seem odd that they didn't countersink the holes enough, maybe they are different screws?

I don't know if they ever did, but the back of the headstock on that bass says it was made in USA.
I'd love to know what the import duty schedule is from Japan...
Michael never did. All Pedulla basses are made in the US.
Mike's plan was to import the Series II necks from Japan. I'm not sure if he went through with that, nor is later necks were made there.
The listing says Japanese "Model", not "Made in". Many companies would make targeted exports of select products.
