Beautiful! Interesting control Layout- haven't seen one like that before. Is it stock?
Im guessing it started out as the standard 2 Band pre with vol and blend, but was changed to a 3 Band pre with a 3 way pickup position toggle replacing the blend. Oh and a battery indicator added?

It's 100% stock. Bought it new and made no modifications. It is beautiful. It's volume and tone for each pickup. I was so young and stupid when I lost the truss rod cover which was matching wood. Oh well. Live and learn, I guess.

I'd love to know what the import duty schedule is from Japan...

Ha, I bought my MVP 6 from Italy and I paid everything from the seller that I thought would cover the whole thing, and I got a surprise email and call requesting another $360 for import duties on the American Side. Kinda pissed me off, but I was glad to finally get that bass.

I'm looking for a Pedulla MVP-5 or 6 19mm SS. The instrument would need to be in good condition. Let me know if anyone is interested in selling.

I just picked up a 1997 vintage Pedulla Pentabuzz. It has some wear on the diamond kote board that I would like to repair. I spoke with Harris at HG Thor and he suggested that I try using thin super glue on the spots and then gradually sand them down using various grit wet/dry sandpaper all the way to 15,000 grit.

Does anyone here have experience doing this kind of thing? If so, any comments, tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I thought this might be fun to share...I just released a new solo single and it's me trying to mimic Mick Karn's sound in Japan, but on a Pentabuzz. Warning: it may sound like I'm vomiting hairballs, but I'm singing in Dutch. Sorry about that.

Sounds good! Nice sliding around at the beginning/ending of phrases to get the feel. Some people talk about blending two separate bass tracks (playing the exact same thing, of course) to get the sound; some talk about using a flanger (among other things). How about you?

Thanks! I do both, it depends on the track. Because I was going for a 80s Japan/Mick Karn sound, and I seemed to hear some kind of flanger in these recordings and not a lot of overdubbing, I chose a single track with flanger approach. Also I wanted to keep the spontaneity of the take, and once you start overdubbing, you'll lose some that 'single take with happy accidents' feeling. It feels more like a transcribed part.

For this song with my band (bass starts at 2:17), I chose the other approach because the part was more rigid and it sounded cooler with multiple basses.

Finally....and I mean....FINALLY....

I've been hunting for a 17.5mm Caramel Pentabuzz for over 2 years. This species proved to be the most elusive and longest bass hunt of my life. It was the last bass on my bucket list for my modest collection.

I tried purchasing the "Last Pedulla" from a member on here. It was a caramel bass but 19mm. Super nice guy but unfortunately, he wanted more than I could afford. And fortunately for me, I met two other sellers in the last 6 months with serial numbers later than the TB member's bass. So his is not the last Pedulla. They to were declaring they were told they had the last Pedulla from Mike. Seems Mike's wife told all 3 of them the same story. All serial numbers were within 3 numbers of each other...so they are reasonable in there assessment and belief.

So....After 2 years, I had given up hope. Last ditch effort, I joined the Pedulla club on FB and posted a wanted ad for my dream Pedulla. And someone answered the ad. He was the original owner of exactly what I wanted. I thought it was a hoax.

After months of due diligence...Turned out to be real!!! Put sale on Reverb and purchased through their system so we are both protected. (I trust no one on FB!!)

Pulled the trigger tonight. The bass will be shipped to my buddy in the US (I'm Canadian). So I won't be able to go pick it up till this summer.

Anyway....here it is. It's a 2017 model. Ordered as a 3AAA but seller believes delivered as a 4AAAA. I'll check the backplate when I get it. Original owner and comes with all the paperwork, original strap, case, and truss rod tool.

Thanks to all that helped me out with info over the years. Finally a member of this special club!
