Opinion question for you Pedulla gang.....I have a 1986 MVP JJ 4 string in Ferrari Red...It has all of the OG Bartolini guts....I don't like the way that it sounds....any suggestions on replacing the electronics or???? I emailed MVP and was told that they can sell me a whole new setup but I am not convinced on the tone....

Thoughts?

What don't you like about the tone? Sometimes changing the eq at the amp (or getting an eq box if you don't have one) can change the tone dramatically. Also, a different brand/type of string is the easiest way to change the tone of a bass.

Can you post some sound clips of the bass and then perhaps some sound clips of the tone that you're after?

I feel you on this one. I put in a new Bartolini pre, since technology has changed so much since '86. Still sounded dull, which I can only describe as like it had old strings, I ended up selling it.

my MVP came to me with a sadowsky preamp, less mid but powerful bass, very clean and precise low, truly love the sound, treeble are cristal clear, i just add a bit of mid 400/800 on my promethean to retrieve some pasto duck sound when needed.
i also prefer the vol vol routing instead of vol balance, what is permited with the sadowsky.
and the VTC is very cool.

Spencer's 19mm spaced Pentabuzz is on it's way to me :hyper:. I've deeply regretted selling and missed the 17mm rose-colored Pentabuzz that I had gottten in trade from him several years back.... and a 19mm is gonna be even BETTER!!

I'd also snag Trujo's Rapture if finances allowed :(.

Beliee me you ill not regret gettimg my Rapture 2000 it plys like a dream and looks stunning :)

Dear Pedulla friends,
I'd like to buy a fretless Pedulla, which has exactly the modern tone I'm after. I mean the one which can sound fretted when played aggressively and then mwah like crazy.

I have some doubts about this electronics, I've never seen a pentabuzz with only three pots. Any hint ?

p.s. : Any idea which bass could sound like a fretless Pedulla ?

It's an older Pedulla. Send a pic and the serial # to Michael Pedulla and you'll get all the info back.
