Sterling, Jazz & ASAT necks are 17.5mm spacing 1.5" nut... most others are 1.65+ 19mm P bass necks. Thanks Freddels, u da man!

Nope. Ernie Ball Sterling and Fender Jazz 4-strings are 19mm at the bridge.

I think you're really confused. The spacing that builders will state like 17.5mm or 19mm or 18mm is the measurement at the center of the string at the bridge.

For the measurement at the nut, the jazz bass is generally 1.5 inches and the P-bass is 1.625 (or something like that) for the modern ones and 1.75 for the older and vintage reissue ones.

Standard spacing for 4s is 19mm, nut width is just that, the width st the nut, has nothing to do with bridge spacing

i am seriously thinking about acquiring a used buzz (1987 vintage), at the local music store. it has been there around a month and it is definitely a player. quite a bit of rash on the back, but all in all looks and plays very good. fingerboard is in pretty good shape and is set up well. i am trying to find out some info about it to see if it is original in every way. it has an 80`s schaller bridge on it in gold; i was wondering if this piece would have been standard on these basses back then. also, how would i know if the electronics are original if i was to remove the plate and look?
it has a very flamed body and it is very light. i hope to get it under $1300 canadian.

i am going to contact pedulla once i get the serial number etc. these rarely come up in these parts and i loved the way it played; the fingerboard and neck are to die for.
is this a decent price?

If it seems worth it to you, go for it. If I tried it and it felt right - trust me, I'd be getting it.

I've never seen a refin done by Mike, but I do know that he is a master luthier with amazing attention to detail, who takes immense pride in his work - and stands behind it 100%. I can't imagine that you'd be disappointed...
