Oh, I just could listen to them in you-tube, there are no such basses in our city So I love both Hexabuzz and Fbass AC6 and BNF6. But still can't find here Hexabuzz with 19 mm string spacing.

I have just received my Hexabuzz 17,5 mm last Friday so can judge the sound. Completelly agree with those who said this is the world class instrument. Several first biggest impressions:

- great playability due to very very low action along entire neck, very easy to play long hours as left hand does not get tired; At the same time the bass craftmanship is so high that very low action does not harm the sustain (very long) or sound volume (quite loud).

- 95% even sound response along and crossing entire neck, meaning ALL 6 strings sound equally loud along the neck. Separatelly underline that low B - no compromises on sound - lound and tone same big thing as other five. I'd say no difference between as some say A (commonly the best sounding string) and low B on my Hexa.

- due to the epoxy finish on fingerboard 80% as hard as glass The Bass gives fantastic sound. It sounds like concert grand piano or the double bass with bow, or both together around middle of the neck on G, D, A, E. B and C do not give such a real buzz, but I will try to lower the action. I expect this will make B and C buzzing more.

The reason why The Bass produces this sound is while a strings while pressed at fingerboard not only sounds as normal string but also makes a buzz at the neck with its approx. 3-5 cm. part below (in distance) the fretting finger. So the sound comes from combinations of 2: one is normal bass string sound, another one is this amazing buzzing on neck. Both together = one sound - in reality sounds like a little flanger effect, with some extra treble added. Or same sound copied, delayed for several ms and mixed with dry with yet treble frequencies sintesized into the mix. The sound is similar to the one of a bow makes at upright or violin. Besides go and look for Jeff Schmidt on youtube. His pieces on Pentabuzz, especially ones usin tapping. You will hear this very special buzzing sound. However this still not enough to understand this in reality because Youtube is sound lossy, and we speak on very delicate sound nuances.

But this explanation is not what you can understand when you hear the bass. What you hear is the quality and nature of the sound is very different to other basses.

Must say this specific buzz sound is not the only available. With Hexa preamp you can make it normally doom, punchy, biting, etc. - so all high quality bass sounds are availble. Just pan to neck pickup or between, lower trebles and get common bass sound.

I haven't listened to BNF6 or AC6 in reality (if we speak about fretless, AC6 is fretted by standard if I am not mistaken). I suppose the difference at least will come from non-coated fingerboard and non-neck-through (well they do neck through but I understood bolt-on is standard, please check yourself). I would go and dig through Fbass club here on TB to find the explanations what they sound like and then decide what sound is. And maybe posted same question as here.

Go and see Pentabuzz or Buzz on harmonycentral reviews. There are some.

PS. One important comment. I believe Penat/HexaBuzz is very solid solo concert instrument of great level. My opnion if this is to be used as normal bass = rythm section instument in a band there is no room for Buzz unique sound to be heard by audience.

She is my new one. Just got it to a friend to shoot some photos. Full height one is made brighter a bit to give the feel of the color. Still the instrument color is quite dark. The second pic is more natural with very small brightness increase.

Would be nice to get my number.

Hi Freddels all praise words go to Michael your Hexa is all the same, just fretted. The color is attractive but a bit too dark to my taste. See how it looks under summer sun. Though concerning the sound I suspect there is no better or equal replacement for Buzz series in the world among fretless.

Actually, mine is Peacock Blue. I couldn't find one in Arctic Blue.

i have a question.
my pedulla is in grey color now...but if you see the plaque for the truss is originaly as a custom one in emerald green.

my question is how to recognize the type of body wood. between AAA, AAAA, 5A ?
someone say that mine is 5A (see pic in originla stat).

have you comment ?

It's going to depend on the amount of flame in the maple of the body wings. If one side is more flamed than the other, then the rating will be that of the lesser flamed side. A 5A would be extremely flamed. You'll have to show pics of the body to determine the rating.

I own two Pedullas (2002 and 2004 models). The quality of the wood (A, AA, AAA) is stamped on the inside of the control cavity cover.

The precedent owner is fine good rock bass player. But he hate the finish "pedulla"...the satin finish specialy.
He took a paint bomb..and...now it s grey. Under the color the wood is naturel without protection...
So i must hurry to protect it then decap and do a new finish.
I look for a professionnal in france to do this, that s not easy by the way.
But i want to know what kind of finition is.

So even i compare pedulla web page and my pic above, i ve difficulties to define the type : AA, AAA, 5A...????

There seems to be no rule for the number of A's.

One of the option is to send an email to M.V. Pedulla (look on his web site, and give him the serial number). It usually is his wife who answers the mail, and she does it pretty fast. That's what I did for mine.
