The Pedulla Club!

Late bloomer. Can I get a number? Mike Pope Flexcore with low and hi-mid toggles and series/single coil/parallel toggles per pickup. Bart Classic Bass pickups. Cocobolo top with vintage amber back. I'm in the process of getting stack knobs to match the other two knobs. This bass prompted me to sell a new Alembic Rogue 6 string bass that had the LEDS on the side of the fretboard!! I actually liked the Alembic but the Pedulla killed it.

that looks RIDICULOUSLY nice! Bet the pre gives you much more options too!

Welcome Modulus and rocoop and their stunning Pedullas!

Modulus, is that a custom finish? Never seen a Thunderbass with a gloss finish. Any idea what year it was made?

I was looking at possibly picking up another t-bolt (I'm an addict - LOL), and noticed a 5-string natural finish t-bolt would disappear and then reappear in another location (now at Bridgeton/St. Louis MO). Here's the response I received from the store manager regarding its condition:

"This bass does have some issues, it came in to our store as a used web return from another store. The truss rod does not work and it was completely unplayable. The neck is slightly twisted and backbowed still, but our tech here worked some magic on it and adjusted the action and fashioned a new bone nut, changed strings/etc to get it playable now."

The bass is $1,299 - I would highly recommend staying away from that bass - the manager says that 'his tech worked some magic' - not that his tech actaully repaired the truss rod issue.

Yes, the pre is very versatile as advertised. This bass can go from round, bright punchy Alembic-like tones to vintage P-bass tones and many tones in between in no time flat. In series dual coil mode, this bass can get back to the low-mid emphasis of the original electronics with ease. Overall, the mods gave the bass more crispy snap without loosing any of the warmth and roundness. Very punchy

Thank you. Pedulla did consider the finish custom, but only to the extent I went with the darkened vintage amber back instead of the standard unfinished light-colored maple. However, as far as I remember, the gloss finish was just an option that I don't believe is considered custom. Regarding the Cocobolo top, I sent Mike Pedulla some sample pictures of a few Alembic basses that had drop dead nice Cocobolo tops I wanted him to emulate as much as possible, and he nailed it. I bought this bass new and it was made in May 2011.

Proud Pedulla owner since 1997. I bought it with my employee discount back when GC actually had good basses. I wouldn't have been able to afford it any other way.

I enjoyed that myself as well! bass sounds awesome and loos beautiful!
esa372 - beautiful piece and very well played - I enjoyed it immensely.
Thanks, guys - I really appreciate it. :)

It was a true labor of love, and I sure learned a lot from it. It was a pretty daunting challenge for a disciple of Entwistle!

I actually think it was the Pedulla that brought it out of me. I have another fretless, and two other fretted basses, but I had never even thought of trying something like that until I got my Pentabuzz.

I guess Pedulla's tag-line is true: "You never played better". :D
