When I first got my Pentabuzz, I was having trouble getting the set-up right. I called for some advice, and Mike spent ~20 minutes on the phone with me, explaining - in detail - the way he likes to set them up and how to do it. I sure wasn't expecting that kind of attention when I called!

Christine and Mike have both been great whenever I have called with a question or a problem.

its been a week since the clear coats have been sprayed and should now be cured... next step... wet sanding...

thanks! That's the original bridge; I changed the knobs from gold to black (the original pickups and pre have been replaced with an Audere classic 4-band and Bart classic P2's, along with coil taps for each pickup - insane tonal options at my fingertips).

I just want to say that after playing my used 94 Pentabuzz for awhile that this thing is really amazing. I`ve played a couple dozen quality basses in the last year (Roscoe-Fender-Ric-Modulus) but this machine is just a cut above. Same strings on all but this plays faster and easier and just "sings".(Pedulla club 151).

+1 I need another fretless 5-string like a hole in the head, but my new to me Pentabuzz (kinda beat up, as it is) is just such a joy to play, and sounds so nice, I am definitely hooked! :bassist: :bassist: :bassist: :cool:

Hey folks, my MTD is currently my main bass and I love it, however I've got a serious itch for a new bass as of lately and am leaning towards a pedulla since from what I gather, theyre keepers and Ive never read/heard a bad review on a pedulla.

Theyre quite pricy new so I'm looking into the used market and wanted to ask what the differences are between the MVPs from the early-mid 80s, and the current MVPs.

I'm pretty sure that the electronics have had an upgrade since, but is there anyone out there whos had experience with both who could help explain all the significant changes in the newer and older basses?

Also, what would be a good price for a semi dinged, semi minty, and 'not played enough' MVP4 from the early-mid 80s?

Since I'm at it, for those of you who've tried the Nuance as well as the MVP, which one would you keep over the other and why?

Rover, I have a 1984 MVP 4 (fretted) and also a late 90's MVP 5 (fretless - buzz). The newer MVPs do have upgraded preamps and sport a mid control, while my older MVP does not have a mid control. Some of the hardware on the older MVP seems to be better to me, but I like them both. There were some MVPs in the 80's that did not have Bartolinis and another style preamp - if I remember correctly, they were EMGs. I do remember that when I bought mine I definitely preferred the Bart set up. In many ways I prefer the 80's version over the newer one, but I am sure there are many who prefer the later editions.
