Warwick Fortress Masterman 4 string
Music Man Bongo 5 String

I can play everything from funk to thrash metal with this combo. I eBayed everything else besides these two and my MM SUB 4.

Knobology could interpreted so many ways! Roger at THG knobs made those for me from pieces of top wood that Gard at Roscoe saved for me. I used some extra ones for the Bolin, and I think they work pretty well with it too.

A fretted and fretless version of the same bass that I love. Once I get a fingerboard planing on the fretless (just got it), I'll make some soundclips.

It's easy. All you do is, on a daily basis, carry out a Google search with the words "Cirrus 6 price", and check Ebay, many times every, and I mean, every, day for 6 months. Oh, that and a bit of luck, in that my Cirrus 6 was only on Ebay for a few minutes with a bargain "Buy it Now", before I snapped it up. The only down side is that I now can't sleep, and have a nervous twitch!

I believe that I now own the perfect pair of basses.

This is based on:

1. Tonal range - from the classic grunge of the T40 through to the extreme hi-fi capability of the Cirrus 6 (and including the complete range in between)
2. Ease of playability of both the 4 and the 6
3. Looks (yes I know that looks are very subjective)
4. Value for money - the pair cost me $1450
5. Build quality - (living in the real world, where exotics will always be only a dream)

Please feel free to disagree.

1. Tonal range - still e'splorin that... But the Epi has a nice standuppish kinda sound I love for playing with my jazz combo at my school, and I am looking for some real difference in the EVO when it comes back from the 12th Fret...
2. PLayability? the basses play fine... I play like a stooge...
3. Looks - c'mon... a Beatlebass and a LP knockoff? fuhgedaboudit...
4. Value for the $$ (together, the EPi new and the EVO used cost me $384.95... course, the EVO is in the shop for a setup, but still under $500)
5. Build Quality (they ain't fell apart yet)

Seriously, I guess the perfect pair is dependant on what you want... I think these two are gonna cover anything I could need... cept better playing ability... ain't a luthier out there who can do that for me...

Sometimes I wish I had a really good 4 or 5, just for anxious bandleaders or 4 hour blues gigs, but I ain't complainin!

I had the perfect pair - but had to sell the one on the right to get an MTD, GAS!

I should not have done that! Since then I have had the one on the left refretted and abalone blocks added - Ken did his usual perfect job!

The only bass I'm really gassing for in a massive way right now is a Lakland DJ 5 passive in lake placid blue. Then maybe a 62RI P-bass and a fretless 5 string F-bass much like the fretted 6 earlier on in the thread with the accugroove rig. That, including my stingray, and I'll be a very happy man with whatever sound I like.
