The 'perfect pair' challenge

What an amazing pair! I bet those sound amazing!
Thank you for the kinds words, G. They do sound amazing. They both have what I would describe as a big, warm, woody sound that just seems to fill up the space I'm playing in. Excellent B-strings. The fretless is strung with Sadowsky flats and the fretted with Elrick nickel rounds. The fretless weighs 8.4 lbs, the fretted 7.2 lbs. IMHO Elricks are a great value for dollar spent.

Here's the most interesting thing about these two basses. They were both surprise gifts from my wife. The fretless in August of '03 and the fretted in October of '05. In both instances, they just showed up at my front door in the hands of a FedEx guy. I know what you're thinkin'...and you're right. I am one lucky bass player!

I wouldn't call these the 'perfect pair' but they do make a 'great' pair. Both were built for me by Chris Stambaugh. Sorry the picture quality isn't better. For better pics check out my photobucket.com album (search blowinblue).
