Perfect Pair Qualifications:
If these were the considerations there were many pairs that qualify. Here's my real world pair:
- Fretted and Unfretted (definitely requires 2 basses)
- Precision Sound / Jazz Sound (requires dual pickup config with single coil / humbucker choice, but could all be on one bass)
- Rickenbacker sound vs. Fender sound (requires neck P/U to be humbucker or single coil could be on one bass)
- Active Pre & EQ vs. Passive w/ tone low pass (can be on one bass)
- different string number preferences (could be any favorite two, or the same #)
- flatwound sound and roundwound (could be favorite two or the same one)
- body shape and balance feel, string scale (should be matched or close)
- finish could go from conservative to absolutely insane or same for both. (might require two basses)
