I agree that the perfect pair is often two different personalities in a similar shape package, sort of like a wife and a mistress. :eek: :bassist: :bassist:

Up until the mid 80's, I probably would have said that the perfect pair would have consisted of whichever Fender you prefer, plus a Rickenbacker (or maybe just Stevie Nicks all by herself). Even with so many fine custom makes and well made copies around, I still think that combo would cover about 99% of all recorded bass guitar tracks.

It's a beautiful variety of posts in this thread. That fanned fret thang is just mad!! And I love that F bass pair, too. And the two Stambaughs. That octave position marker on the walnut one is certainly a nice touch. This is definitely one of my favorite show your basses threads.

Beautiful, Beautiful basses my friend, but I have to say that for 99.9% of us, there is nothing "real world" about this pair.

They are truly amazing. Personally, I would be scared to stand next to any guitar player that I know with one of these!!!

Some lovely basses here. Me GAS! (You Jane, I suppose).

Thing is, I'm not sure a pair could ever be quite perfect for me (don't jump on me, this is just how I feel).

I love the attacking sound that I get out of my MusicMan (SUB5) and it's my main axe. When the mood takes me, or the song requires, I pull out my world-weary but solid Ibanez P. For the most part these babies see me through. But I feel the lack of a proper retro J sound.

I'll pick something up when I have the readies (Probably a MIM J but the Jag I tried last week could make some lovely noises, even in my hands). At that point I feel I'll be set for a while, until the fretless bug bites!

A great pair is a wonderful thing, but a threesome is where the real fun is...

I'll get my coat.

They are pretty much stock except for some stickers that cover the pickguards... I like how it looks with the stickers. I learned on the RD in the back, its my baby. It took me about 8 years to track down another one. I used them onstage for about 4 years up until the end of last year. Great basses! Thanks for the props!
