Did he record with one or not? anywhere that someone can identify
He also did some live recordings with The Funk Brothers, ( see the Earl VanDyke cd's ), where he is pictured using a B15N. Not exactly studio stuff, but a recording, nevertheless.

Otherwise known as " The Claw ".
Yes, "The Hook." Pg. 27 in Standing in the Shadows of Motown.I thought it was "The Hook"?
For stage EQ, I'd think about these things:
--notch filter for cutting "boom", around 120 Hz (depends on room).
--low cut filter for cutting subharmonic rumbles and thumps, around 30-50 Hz and below.
--gentle high cut for taking the edge off things, and getting a "vintage" tone, around 3-5 KHz and up.
--sweepable mids cut or boost, for finding the right tone. Could be replaced with a James/Bax EQ like on a B15.
Not that you need all those things--just that those are some useful considerations when looking at different EQ's to buy.

Me too, and I think I may have to spring for a Palmer eventually.I really dig the Barber Linden EQ for my Baxandall EQ needs. Works great for DI recording, though I find I still need a low pass filter set to cut off stuff above where a speaker would normally cut off, or fuzz tones get nasty. My DI chain right now is the Barber into a TW 4001 DI, and to my ear, it sounds great.
